This will be a HUGE YMMV, but when you are at HD or Lowes make sure to check their clearance sections. I have seen the big packages and boxes marked down from $46 and $50 to $15-20 each. These were the large quantities, but were only 1 or 2 boxes in a couple of stores. It is worth a look if you are already at the store for another reason. I would NOT make a special trip to look for these.

I hope this helps someone.

Yes HUGE YMMV. A few years ago at HD they had 20 packs of GRK #9-2.5 inch screws with a bit for 0.25. I bought the entire box which was probably more than 50. Spent about 30 minutes opening them up, separating the bits and screws. I check my local HD and Lowes every time I'm there and nothing close with clearance screws since then.

If you are really bored, you can browse around Amazon and occasionally find an abnormally low priced package.

I bought these exact screws in this deal a few months ago for $25 for 5lb.
