Found this digital torque wrench at Sears for $119, down from original price of $299. I know that's inflated, but similar I've seen were at least $200. However, if you just need one occasionally, O'Reilly has toque wrenches in their tool loan program. Maybe also at AutoZone.

Let it go already. There only 19 Sears stores left in the whole country (down from 3500).

fwiw- For the 3/8" version of this torque wrench, there are 3 reviews and they're all 1 Star.
Try reading the reviews and see they are all bogus with nothing to do with the actual quality of the wrench

i have this. forget what i paid, i dont think it was anywhere near 200 bucks, tho. bought it for a couple of reasons. first, it goes to 250 ft/lbs, not a lot of nuts/bolts go that high, but axle nuts do. it is also longer, so good leverage when in the higher torque ranges. the digital readout is another reason i got it, the older micrometer style was getting harder to see. also, instant change to nm, and, on the 1/4", in/lb, which i used to use a lot. i have all 3, 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4. dont use them much any more.

Not the best video but he's an unboxing and quick review. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bg8IiZfNtBo
Fast forward to the 10 minute mark to see how it adjusts. It's still basically a Click-style wrench. Apparently they were sellling for $50 last year.

Ahhh well that it true. Mine is 20 to 150, true. I haven't yet needed anything above 100 in my auto DIY stuff but yes if someone needs up to 250 then I agree my HF wouldn't work. And I see they are now 24.99 at HF and no more coupons anymore at that store so can't get it for 9.99 I guess
I'm with you, Good Man. My friend of more than 50 years has been building hot rods since a teenager, which, for sure, includes the engines. No, he does not torque 'em w/ an HF, but he has more than 1 HF, also bought for 10 bucks years ago, which he uses for more mundane stuff.

Just get the HF version of this. There's a digital HF one now. It's like $100 or something. Bought one and would highly recommend. Never going back to clicker types ever again.

FYI
took a look at the HF one, and it looks like it is currently listed @ $175, even after 20% off this one seems like it would be cheaper.
Can't speak to quality of either, but I did remember seeing in the news that sears had closed down its last store, so not sure where you would be able to warranty this.

Just my 2c, cheers!

So do these just beep beep when they hit the target torque or do they release like a clicker or what

This one is a clicker type from what I can tell. It just has a digital adjustment for the clicking mechanism. Again, I wouldn't get this one.

Without the tone, I have no use for a digital over the practicality of a simple click that is maintenance adjustable.

Now, Harbor Freight and others sell a digital torque adapter [harborfreight.com] with tone in 1/2, 3/8, and 1/4 inch drive and +/- 2% for $29.99 that seems to works decent. The next time a coupon, I may pick one up. The earlier models a few years ago had some issues that seem to have been resolved. My Snap On guy has similar in truck to test torque wrench calibration, but will have to check who makes that one.

The HF one has beeps and tones. It's not a clicker type. Look it up. It's normally a $300+ wrench from other brands. (Not fake markup brands like sears)

I am surprised that sears still exists. Hopefully they can make a comeback. Even though it looks very bleak

Thanks.... I have not seen it in person, but now have a new store that is a lot closer than prior. Gearwrench [amazon.com] also makes one, but unless a bargain, I don't really need one that badly.

We have a full set of Snap On clicks and the 1/4" drive must be 40 years old and used a lot for curtain wall pressure plate setup (glass walls) to adjust positive clutched screw guns twice a day, still within specs. According to the factory, the key to longevity is to unload them after use with just a touch of tension.

Nevertheless, I would like to have an accurate audio digital torque adapter for testing when I want to, but the one from HF [harborfreight.com] in my prior post has a range of 29.5 to 147.6 ft. lbs, which on the low end would be 354 in lbs and a bit high to test calibration for 1/4" drive torque wrenches. AC Delco [amazon.com] makes two sizes, with the smaller at 14.8 to 147.6 ft-lbs, but is a bit pricier. I may set some notices on the 3C's for price drops.

According to MSN money [msn.com], the last store in Illinois was closed with apparently still about 35 stores open. Since the Craftsman line was sold off with Lowes now selling same, like you, I have no idea about warranty on Craftsman electrical items should the last Sears store be closed.

For this torque wrench the warranty is for one year (commercial usage is 90 days) with required proof of purchase, but "Contact Customer Care for details" is a bit vague. Do you send it in for repairs, who pays for shipping, do they replace with a new one, do they refund, etc.?

Black & Decker bought Craftsman years ago.

It is no longer owned by Sears in any way.

The new Craftsman USA factory opens in Fort Worth TX soon.
