I did this online a few nights ago. Still no sign of my 10k signup points, nor my first $5 cert to use for this month. Recently I bought a game called Lost Judgment which came with a $10 reward, I had to contact support just to get that issued to me as well once many days had gone by and it was never rewarded as it should have been. I figured this membership would quickly pay for itself and it's the only gaming rewards around these days since GCU ended, but it's clear much of GameStop as a business is a mess right now. There was a game on sale that I wanted, and I figured I'd get these 10k points and $5 monthly reward right away and I'd buy the game. Now I'm willing to bet by the time they get my points straightened out, the sale price on the game will expire and I won't be able to get what I wanted.

As others have also mentioned, the $5 monthly rewards can't stack because they expire, and they also cannot be used to preorder something, they have to be used on something currently in stock. Which is a negative to me, easiest way to make sure the rewards don't get wasted in a month where I might not want anything is to just preorder something that I know I want in the future. I hear PSN cards don't come in anything less than $10, so if you're mainly a PlayStation gamer you can't just get your monthly $5 in PSN credit either unless you add cash to it.

Small print terms about the PowerUp Pro says you can request to cancel/refund your membership within 7 days. I may do that as I am disappointed already. (Oh, also the previous game I bought online had a release date of Friday Sep 24th and I received it Weds the 29th. For a business that caters to gamers, they should know it's not fun to be 5 days behind everyone else who starts playing a game on release day. The package didn't even start moving until Monday after release.)

So I'll be wasting my Monday morning getting on their live chat that is only available on weekdays to ask where all these rewards are. If that doesn't get sorted immediately, I'll be inquiring about the terms of refunding my membership, and if they mess around with that, I'll contact my credit card about the $15 charge I used to join. I recently got a PS5 and figured I'll be buying more physical games because of that and that this would be worth doing, but I'm already frustrated with GS service.

This is what I do every month.
It tends to not let me use the credit on nintendo e-cards most of the time, sometimes yes, but I do it in-store every month without issue applied to the $10 e-card.

I pretty much got my money back plus more with the PS4 controller trade in. Would have only received $25 for my 1 controller but the sales guy told me if I signed up for PRO I would get $40 for the controller and told me if I had other controllers it would be the same trade in price for each of them. Traded in 3 PS4 controllers and an XBOX One controller for $160 total. Most of them were slightly broken so I can't complain.

Y'all are getting rusty at this! In another thread, I posted that Kroger has now re-offered $60 of Happy GC's (including "treats" which includes GameStop) credit for $50 via their online gift-card purchase site (which is actually a rebranded GiftCardMall site) ... https://slickdeals.net/f/15304324-/

That deal is good through 10/5/21 @ 8:59pm PDT / 11:59pm EDT.

Later on down the thread, I explain how you can you can use the monthly $5 with the credit to purchase $10 increments of gaming site credit (incl. PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo, Steam, etc) ... https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=149967640&postcount=14

The regular program before was you'd get the monthly coupons and a bonus $5 coupon that printed on the receipt. Now you get no receipt coupon and get 10k points in place of it, so this is a better deal. But there were limited time promotions previously where they'd give you 10k points in addition to the things I mentioned, so you were practically getting the membership for free.

So I just left my local GameStop and renewed my membership a month early and the store manager informed me of a couple of things for you guys:

1) $5 monthly certificate no longer expires (I think he said it now converts into 5000 points if you don't use it). Before if you don't use it you lost it, now that's no longer the case. This means you can just walk into GameStop once a year and get a free $60 game Instead of being forced to go in every month for just $5. This is game changer!!!!!

2) You can use your points (and trade in credit) to renew your membership. you can't use the current month $5 certificate as I just tried and it failed but I was able to use the 10k points in my account which brought the membership down to $5 and then I just paid the $5 with my trade in store credit.

3) GameStop also sells $1 Xbox gift cards. this means if you want weird denomination like $6-$9 you can do it without having to fork over more than you want to. he told me Xbox is a little more flexible than Nintendo and Sony when it comes to that which is why they can do it. this means if you want a $6 Xbox card you can pay just $1 after using the $5 monthly certificate.

The membership is getting better overtime and yet the guy in front of me turned it down when it was offered to to him (I was laughing inside so hard when he said no).
The manager misunderstood something or you did. The points are now set to stockpile by default. Previously, they automatically redeemed for certificates as soon as you had enough points for one. I really doubt that the $5 monthly coupons don't expire now. Do you know how much money they would lose if they gave every member a $60 game for $15?

he told me the points don't expire and that you can roll over if you don't redeem the $5 monthly certificate. go into your local store and ask (ask multiple store managers if you can to verify). he has literally told me on two separate occasions that Gamestop doesn't care they just want you to enjoy your rewards however YOU want.

There is no welcome coupon. It's an old description.

i actually had a conversation about this very OP trick with the same store manager a few months back when i told him that i only come in to use my $5 monthly certificate on $5 Nintendo or Xbox Gamecard and his answer was "Gamestop doesn't care because that trick is used by a very small percentage of customers like you, because the $5 monthly certificate was designed to get customers into the store and spend more than $5". i didn't need him to tell me what i already knew.

but i can pretty much guarantee when that "small percentage of customers like you" gets above their desired threshold they will screw us over somehow and that's when i stop renewing and walking into Gamestop for good.

Yeah, I do that too. They don't care about that because every time we visit the store, that's an opportunity to sell us more stuff. Most people are not going to do that for a free $5. That's why I'm saying it doesn't make sense for the monthly coupons to rollover or convert to points since everyone can just sign up tomorrow, visit again next year and get a free game. And you can be sure many people would be making multiple accounts to get multiple free games. Each store would be giving away literally hundreds of games in one month.

actually it makes perfect sense because 1-2 months ago i called into customer service to complain that this was the second time i get multiple emails about unused $5 monthly certificates then when i go to the store the $5 doesn't exist because i had already used it a week or two ago during the month. i told the customer service rep they needed to fix that because i am wasting gas and time going to the store for nothing and it sounds like they heard my complaint. it sounds like this was their solution because more than likely the reason i was getting emails was because the certificate did in fact roll over into points and never actually expired but the emails made things very confusing and now it sounds like they made it easier and less frustrating.

as for multiple accounts it doesn't matter because they get $15 from you per account and you get $45 profit per account no matter how many accounts you have. it's no different than if you signed up your parents too and pretending to be your parents, but you can only memorize so many phone numbers before it's no longer worth it. the $15 is basically like the Costco club membership business model where they make their money off memberships and you getting $45 is the same as you going to their competitor and buying the same stuff for $45. just like Costco who is banking on you to spend thousands in their club in that 1 year, Gamestop is also banking on you to spend more than that $45 over those 12 months.

basically from what i can see Gamestop is trying to turn around their bad reputation and being more customer friendly with these changes, aswell as Price Matching that was added not that long ago (that too was told to me by the same Store Manager a while back). i think their doing a pretty good job trying to turn things around but until they prove themselves to me i still wanna watch them burn to the ground.
