I cashed out my discover cash back for the happy gift cards last year that had Lowe's and GameStop. If your plan is to try to convert to third party gift cards, I wouldn't recommend it. For Lowe's, all the stores around me in Chicago have simply stopped carrying third party gift cards. While on a trip to Bloomington, I stopped at a Lowe's with third party gift cards but the cashiers and manager would not let it me use the happy gift cards to buy them. I ended up using them to buy GameStop gift cards at a GameStop in hopes of buying an Xbox Series X. It's obviously pretty hard to liquidate a GameStop gift card. I'm sure others had easy experiences, but for anyone thinking to quickly convert these to Amazon gift cards it's seriously YMMV.
Depends on the location. The card specifically says that no gift card can be purchased, but some Lowe's employees don't check on them.

Please note that at my local Lowe's, gift cards can only be purchased at a manned register (i.e. no self-service kiosk).
Yes, and that's what makes these a good deal. These are run as credit gc's which Happy doesn't sell directly. I used over $500 last winter to buy Amazon GC at Lowes using the same method.

Buying third party GCs at Lowe's is YMMV. In my case, I've had cashiers "nosy" enough and asked me for an ID. But I've also had some success where the cashier let me use the card.

No, I couldn't even buy phone refill card with Staples GC and that really annoyed me a few years ago.

thats right. so its time of the year now? i remember the last time we got those amazon gcs at lowes was back during the xmas time last year.

remember those gcs needed to be rung up by a human. cant do the self checkout. you still can do at self checkout but it still required an override.

Yes you can.

"Use the Happy Holidays gift card at any Macy's, Ulta Beauty, Chili's Grill & Bar, Red Lobster, Lowe's or GameStop location in the US."
So we directly show this 'happy holidays card' at the counter as payment method?

redeemed $100 for 3 cards. Thanks OP.

The two Lowes nearby me don't allow buying gc with gc. After getting a manager to agree that the happy holidays card is actually a credit card, both Lowes then required a ID with same CC name for any gift card purchase using a credit card. Obviously there is no name at all on these hh cards. So it's really a major YMMV for purchase of Amazon GCs at Lowes with this from my experience.

So I also ended up going to GameStop to use the happy holidays GC with the promo last year.

Happy "run as credit" GC's generally do not work at e-business (e.g. will work @ Lowes B&M but not Lowes.com)

That's bizarre; do people really still carry around a wad of cash to buy stuff?

Just FYI, now the happy cards (that have lowes) require online redemption or exchange. That means you cannot use it as a credit card. You will have to redeem/exchange it for lowes' gift cards online.

Not quite.

There are 2 different types of Happy Cards.

The original type were "run as credit" in which case you use them just as a prepaid CC, but the transaction was locked to certain merchant accounts (B&M Lowe's, etc). Very early on it was common for a sporadic issue where a B&M transaction would be denied, but that was because that particular location wasn't in the list of allowable merchants (Lowes by itself has >2000 locations). That's basically been fixed.

Then a couple years ago they came out with the "online redemption" ones which are basically just credits which you can then "shop" at Happy's website for legit store GC's.

Happy still sells both types (head to their site and see for yourself [happycards.com]) but these cards in particular are the "Run as Credit" type. Just look at the bottom of the front of the card, it will either say "Online Redemption/Exchange Required" or "Enter Payment as Credit". Note that they do not sell a "Run as Credit" GC that is accepted @ Lowe's on their website.

Lastly, for the "Run as Credit" versions such as this one, to empty them if you have an odd amount, you just run as credit and it will take whatever balance is left on the card off your bill - you don't have to bend over backwards to hit the exact amount left on the card.
