And, yes, BS is a joke when it comes to Wallyworld (and Lowes, as I discovered last night).
At my Walmart they were locked in the display cases in the Electronics department, they have a whole section that was Smart Home things.
Now, why would a lead/manager/person with permission do this? Because each item in your store takes up inventory and goes against the total quantity of whatever that department can get, in theory, so if you push more product out the door you can stay competitive by forcing the company to send you more new stuff to replace the sold stuff that people might actually spend full price on.
They can also see previous price points on their gun and can see the mark-up. Knowing corporate already bottomed it out on their end they at the store are not concerned about dropping it a bit further to get them to fly out the store.

From what I've seen over the past several years, if it says 6 plus that's almost always an inventory error and they don't have any.
Five stores around me show six plus, I'm not wasting my time.
