Prices are marked up when ordering via Instacart, so this may offset that somewhat.

If u see "Everyday store prices" listed under your store then u are paying same as in store. "View pricing policy" would mean the prices are inflated.

Have been using this service since the pandemic started and I have received numerous offers from them so far, so I think I have saved money when I account for all their offers (even after tip and surcharge they add). And the added convenience of door delivery, plus zero impulse buying.

Thanks for posting, but I stopped reading at auto-renew.
Well if you read a bit further to the very first comment on this thread, you'd have seen that you could cancel auto-renew immediately and still receive the full benefit.

It doesn't look like anybody sees this the button called "In-Store Prices." Yes, some stores are marked up. If you click on the previously mentioned button, you will get the exact same prices as in store. Then, add in instacart coupons.

Interestingly, Costco prices are often cheaper on instacart than Costco.com's 2-day delivery. It's weird. I've found several items on sale at Instacart cheaper than listed at sameday.costco.com.

Just one current example is at Costco on instacart, the SmartyPants Women's Formula Multivitamin Gummies, 240 CT is $23.57-$5 coupon. On Costco same day delivery, it is $24.55-$5. Since I have an instacart express trial, my fee is usually around $1-2 for the entire order and I would tip either service the same amount. When you continue to find lots of items cheaper on instacart, like this, it works out better for me to use instacart than Costco same day delivery (that uses instacart, lol). Yes, it is still more expensive than going to the store but, being disabled and not able to drive, I don't have the option.

Again, I put the exact same items in both carts at Costco same day service and instacart Costco and instacart Costco always wins out, even adding in the couple bucks for service fees. Perhaps it's regional.

still worth it for me. queuing up at costco, packed shoulder to gills, during a pandemic is no way to spend your after work hours. same for any other grocery store. I get to save my spirit, delivery gal gets a nice tip, and the planet benefits a bit to since she's combining multiple orders into a single trip.

A $40 order has about a $4 premium and a $4 tip. Gas alone is about $2, so is $6 less than the value of my time?

Suggestion: for stuff like fruit and special meat, put in the notes that "tip will be increased for good picks". Set your starting tip at 5% or 10%, and if it's good bump it to 10 or 15%.

for those who have aldi nearby (grocery store), they offer pickup. even without membership, pickup fee is only 1.99. The shopping is done by the aldi employees, Looks like Instacart and aldi have some partnership. Pick up is very easy and time saving

Someone shopping my groceries in store is a service I still haven't been able to mentally latch onto, I also like finding random shelf deals but I can see this as very beneficial to the elderly or disabled. Fwiw, these people never look happy in Safeway. laugh out loud

Costco can be about 20% higher but you don't need a membership. Fred Meyer advertises in store prices.

If you want same store prices for Target, use Shipt. There's a a Visa offer for that one too.

You pay for convenience.
Costco was just giving away net free membership w/ promo & you generally as a rule of thumb can't return anything w/o membership. if you want to drop their without membership and surcharge you need cash card.

I can see why they wouldn't look happy. I hate grocery shopping for myself enough. I can't imagine doing it all day everyday for other people.

Not all stores. Try to do some research
Might not be all stores but it's pretty significantly - I checked for example SAM's - the markup is around 20%!!

It's a life saver for families with kids and no time to shop!

If you have a problem with something delivered via Instacart, you take it up with Instacart. Even if you have a Costco membership, your order isn't attached to your membership so you don't return to Costco.
