Use baking soda alone to cut through grease. Use vinegar alone to wear away hard water deposits. But don't mix them together and completely destroy each's cleaning power.

Where do you add that?
I'll have to try this and some other natural options. This product leaves a terrible smell for many loads after use. I'm not alone as some of the reviews attest. I'm not sure why some get the effect and some don't though.
I used to use these. I guess they are ok but a cup of white vinegar on top rack and baking soda sprinkled on the bottom of the dishwasher, set on heavy clean works better than this.
