It's a third it's asking price but has a huge number of 1 star reviews. Reviewers say it lasts 6-12 months and has all kinds of problems.

I've noticed a trend in the BBQ smoker market. Companies are releasing 'smart' smokers with features like automatically brisket feeding, and bluetooth remote monitoring of internal temperatures. The problem is the first generations are horrible. They put in thin sheet metal that rusts out, install plastic fans in 700F+ BBQs, flakey bluetooth hardware that isn't weather or heat resistant, and fail to properly shield and insulate electric components from the heat of the BBQ. So you have a BBQ that rusts out, has melting parts, and 4-5 electric components that constantly fail. I suspect we are 5+ years away from a 'smart' bbq that isn't trash.

At $200 instead of $600 it makes for a good toy. It would be a tictok style challenge to challenge a buyer to research all of it's flaws and impliment hacks to solve them all. Such as painting the sheet metal panels that rust out with quality high temp paint when it's new. Sheilding the electronic components with insulation, and such. It would probably still fail in the end. Too many problems with unclear solutions.

Here's a link to some of the cuts I've done in the past. Quality pellets definitely go a long way to getting a decent bark. I use it probably every other weekend. Not once have I had any issues with it going out and having to reignite manually.

I always empty the burn box/ ash after every use. I keep the hopper loaded even when not in use although there is a way to empty it using the built in mechanism.

Hopper holds about 20lbs so more than enough for just about any smoke at low temps. Ive only used it at temps above 250 a handful of times because it really eats through pellets at higher temps. I keep it covered with a nice cover from Costco anytime it is not in use. So far no rust. I'm in the Midwest. It's worked fine while getting rained on.

Holds temps beautifully within about 5 degrees of what you set it to. Bluetooth works but you need basically clear line of sight. It does not go through walls very well.

I'm happy to answer any specific questions anyone might have.

I have one. Ignore Bluetooth and don't use the app; use Weber iGrill or something similar instead. Everything else on it works perfectly. It's an excellent buy for $200, and much more than a toy.

I have one and really enjoy it. Had it for a little over a year. They have their issues but customer services was awesome. They're made by a company in Texas and borrow the cuisinart name for branding.
What issues did you have? Pellet auger, rust, igniter, control board, display? That's what I read was happening in the reviews. A lot more good reviews than bad, but the bad all had the same issues so they're not making it up or user error. Thanks.

I got one for this price a few weeks ago. Great smoker for this price, it's been perfect since I got it. The Bluetooth doesn't work, just skip it. Just use the display.

For me it was the temp sensor. Replaced with a new one from customer service and no issues since. It also came dinged up out of the box. They had no issues sending a brand new lid so I have a backup now.

For me, the Bluetooth does work albeit very minimal range. My bedroom is almost directly above where the grill is in the backyard so for overnight smokes, I am able to get a signal and check it in the morning without getting out of bed.

I know it's not a lot of money. It's wasting money if you buy it then it breaks in a couple months and you have to buy another one. There's plenty of better deals. A third of the reviews are one star. That's saying something
Look at professional reviews on YouTube, not Walmart reviews.

This thing is built extremely well.

Hm..one store with limited stock at $199. and then my local store has 6 in stock but still full price. Might be worth going into the local store to see if the price is accurate.

I have the Clermont which is a sister version of this. On the Clermont, Bluetooth is only used until you connect it to your WiFi and then it's wifi from there. The problem that happens is the app expects the grill to be at the same IP address every time you load it up. So it would show as disconnected each time. Setting a static IP for the grill on my router fixed this issue. Posting in case it's also relevant for this model. Give it a shot!

Bluetooth is useless and the thermometer is as unreliable as any that are included with a grill, but overall this model is good. I bought one a month or two ago and have used it probably ten times since then. At $200 it's a steal.

Bought one last week at $427, no other stores in my area have any inventory. Happy with it so far, three rack of ribs on the smoker right now as I type this. Easy to assemble and well packaged. No complaints so far but it's only been a week. As others have stated, Bluetooth sucks, lucky if you get signal 25 feet away. Just maintain it, keep it covered and dry, and it should hopefully prevent problems from happening.

A lot of the reviews says it falls apart after 6 months. Probably is a piece since it's made from Cuisinart. Cuisinart makes cheap s*** and turn around and sell it for higher price. All the Cuisinart stuff that I had has fallen apart. $200 looks like a steal until you end up replacing it in 6 months.

Cuisinart focuses on trying to build mediocre things that are in demand at the time. Right now they're building air purifiers because they're in demand too. A better bet would be to wait and buy a pit boss, Louisiana grill, traeger, Camp Chef, any of the brands that focus solely on grills. They put all their money into r&d to perfect them rather than just trying to throw mediocre products out there to get money.
