I have two of these devices and I absolutely love Android TV and this device is a great value but yes, it locks up on me all the time. I'm constantly having to unplug it and plug it back in order to get it working again.

Does this work for local streaming if internet goes down?
I picked one up and was pleasantly surprised. Isn't quite as good as my $200 Shield, but definitely like it more than my $50 Fire Stick. It's very snappy and responsive, and stock Android TV is a very enjoyable experience.

Been going in and out of stock for days.
Not sure what good it does to mark the previous one expired and repost
