Speaking of the list, I will be playing with the OTG cable and a sandisk 128 usb3 flash drive tonight, just to try that youtube setup procedure..
I am still putting the ONN through the paces, and am tempted to track down the tivo 4k just to say I tried them all especialy to see if its USB C port is usefull... I have way to manny of these things now and dont really have a use of another other than curiosity.....
When I installed Android Studio, the adb program was located in C:\Users\[user id]\AppData\Local\Android\Sdk\platform-tools.

SO.. I remember the procedure of using that ADB sever app on a 4k to format the drive and am thinking I could use that instead for that final tcip link.. IDK, it did not go as smooth as it looked and I had to quit for today.
Another thing of note is I wanted to know what the free space with a minimum setup on each of these devices.. fire 4k stick 4.01gb free,. ONN box 4.8gb free, and the Pendant had 4.1gb free.. I jhave found the sticks are always tight on space and the ONN seems to have a bit more free space.. 800k more is quite a bit better. I like that!
I ended up putting the same launcher on my shield and it's also much more pleasant now. Wolf Launcher rocks.

Set it up, it paired with the remote (10" away or less!), downloaded the updates and in about 20 minutes of signing into 10 services, is running well.
Make sure to go into Play Store after it's set up, and update the apps. 16 of them needed updating once I was done with the install.
People getting weird stuff like the remote not pairing or the box has diagnostic tools on it, return that.
Looks like with all of the latest updates, most of the bad reviews went away.
Probably won't get as many updates as the chromecast with google tv, but it's the same reference hardware so there might be a hack for it down the road.
Very pleasantly surprised at the speed in the UI and when streaming. Faster than a 5 year old sony android tv, about the same speed as a six month old mid range sony android tv, and not noticeably slower than my 2015 Shield TV. I'm sure the extra ram and gpu power on the shield would show up if I were gaming on it, but I'm not.
More than good enough performance and capabilities for my needs, which is mostly streaming video.
No apps I use regularly were omitted, including amazon prime. The device itself is quite small, fits in the cupped palm of the hand. Remote is a little smaller than the usual tv or shield remote, but I'm getting used to it.
Would have taken a harder look at the tivo stream, but for whatever reason they decided to change the remote from the tivo design that's been around for 20 years, and I had a series 1 back in 2000 all the way to recently. Shame they did that, or I'd have checked one of those out. Change for the sake of change is BS.
Hardware-wise and tweakabilty (such as gaming emulation). Are they comparable?

Walmart has theirs locked so you can't sideload apps easily, but I'd bet that there's a workaround.
I'd also look closely at the fine print. I saw that I'd get 3 months of free youtube premium with the chromecast with google tv. After reading the fine print, looks like you can only get it if you've never even HEARD of google.
I got my Onn box yesterday, and I like it very much. I had an order for the chromecast with netflix like you did, but I canceled it after spending a day with the Onn.
Performance is surprisingly good, especially considering I'm coming from an older Shield.
No glitches, locks or problems. As far as updates...for <$20 I don't care if it never sees another update again! Google will have a refresh of their chromecast w/google tv in the next year, and I'll have extra cash in my bank account to buy it in a year or two!
And I took a good long look at the remote google included with the chromecast with google tv. I prefer the Onn, way more useful buttons and I like the button placement better.
Looks like the google team REALLY liked the idea of shipping a chromecast without a remote control. And if they had to make a remote, it wasn't going to be a good one!

I'm coming from Roku Ultras. Tired of Roku issues and their feuds with HBO and YouTube. Plus technical issues with HDR on Paramount+ when watching on a non-hdr tv and audio issues on dlna network payback. Roku is too closed an ecosphere.
