Data point: the black were available at a local shoe store for $22.50 a few days ago, was told that they were being discontinued and cleared out. Don't know if that's the case for the orange but wanted to post this for anyone interested.

PSA: If you have a HSA/FSA, insoles are covered 100% without Dr note of medical neccessaity. If your asking what a HSA/FSA is, you don't have one.

If you work on your feet, get these (or the green ones), and also look for shoes with Vibram (rubber) soles.

I have varicose veins, I noticed when I wore my Merrell Jungle Moc shoes that I could shop longer and my feet/legs didn't ache as much. Then I had a podiatrist tell me that my arches were "falling" and recommended the Superfeet. Took out the Merrell insoles and put in the Superfeet (they take a couple of days to get used to them), and now I won't wear shoes without arch support.

My son ran XC in high school and college, he also swears by the Superfeet (orange); he started working retail and figured his athletic shoes (no orthotics) would be fine, he came home complaining about how much his legs ached. Got him some Merrell's, put in the Superfeet and no complaints (same response with another son working retail, and husband that walks on concrete all day).

Why are these insoles 2x the price of the top few best selling insoles on Amazon? And 3x the Dr Scholls for instance?
Those insoles are junk, much like the ones that come with shoes. My podiatrist originally prescribed green superfeet while the office was checking to see if my insurance would cover custom insoles. Custom by and far is the way to go, but the greens are the next best thing.

I've been using my custom insoles for 12 years now and they're still structurally sound, had the pads replaced by a cobbler for $20 a couple of years ago. That said, I use greens for my less-used shoes and my wife uses them in her work shoes. Greens are still pretty good compared to junk insoles and there is definitely a noticeable difference, but you're going to need to replace these things every 6 months for heavy use to possibly every 1.5 years for light use.

Do note that it takes some time for your feet to adjust to actually being supported properly. Took a couple of weeks of aching feet for me to adjust to my customs even, but I haven't experienced foot pain even on my feet 8 hours a day ever since.

IIRC the cost of my customs would have been something in the $700-$800 range without insurance and that's just for the insoles themselves, not the fitting. With how long they've lasted though, the cost is right around the MSRP of annual superfeet or possibly even cheaper depending on usage/wear.

They definitely play games with the pricing but make sure you are comparing orthotic insoles as they tend to cost more than other insoles. I have never seen the Superfeet sold for $50 though.
I have bought several sets of the black ones for my athletic kids to help with Sever's. They are life savers! They are $49.99 at Dick's sporting goods.

The blues ones are good if you need support. But those are NOT on sale.

Reminder to everyone to think about your feet when you're NOT wearing shoes with these. Folks have been spending more time at home over the past 1.5 years wearing only socks or going barefoot. So you've got Superfeet in your shoes 6hrs a day, then clean the house and chase the kids in your socks. Just keep that in mind before you blame Superfeet for not solving your foot/leg/back pain. They do make orthotic slippers that just look like flip-flops. Google em, I'm not shilling, just looking out for my fellow SDer's feet.

Do you buy them first and then contact the insurance company for a refund

My point is they're always cheaper online.

For my FSA, I buy them and get reimbursed. Orthotics dont require a prescription so I usually load up when they are on sale

These are fantastic orthotics even at their original price of $55. The Dr. Scholl's stuff is pure garbage. A functional orthotic should have a firm arch support. All of that "Dr" Scholls gel crap is marketing nonsense that feels good at first but then stops working.

Shoot. Do you know if the green ones will be discontinued? I need those for my feet situation. And my parents
Don't believe so, the store employee seemed to think it had more to do with consolidating or replacing the black with a new model. They still had green insoles at full price, and I believe those are one of their best sellers.

Support. Dr Scholls may feel nice initially, but if you are on your feet for a long time my legs/knees will hurt without good support. As mentioned previously, custom inserts are probably the best but very pricey.

Superfeet is a step up from the basic stuff and good for general use (I keep them in shoes I just wear and go). I use a brand called Aline which is about 2x the superfeet but much better support. i have a custom pair in my work shoes that I wear 8+hours a day. Most people wont notice a huge difference, but flat feet or people who over pronate will feel much better with these.

I have custom in my dress shoes and they are wonderful when I am back to work. They do take a little bit of time to get used to and they are so expensive. I am unsure about the off these non-custom one as there are so many models. How do you figure out which one to purchase - green, blue, or orange? I may want to add some to my gym shoes. I use Sassony as they have a bigger toe. I am looking for some better arch support more than cushion. But I agree.... custom orthotics are wonderful.
