You're referencing the T-Mobile deal? There is indeed a standard process by which the line level credits are migrated to account level credits so that you can continue to receive them on a monthly basis.

After scanning 198 pages, I could not find what would be the final cost of buying this from BB / T-mobile for the sole purpose of unlock after activation and use it with my current prepaid carrier.. .is it .. $phone + $activation - $trade-in ? Do I need to enroll in a plan and pay anything upfront?

Pardon my ignorance :-(

I think you misunderstand. iPhone automatically unlocks too when the connected EIP is paid off. Hence "automatically". You make your payment and a few days later your phone is unlocked without submitting any requests

did anyone cancel their Tmobile account after device unlock ? I just got the phone today and got it successfully unlocked via Twitter T force. Not planning to continue with Tmobile and wanted to cancel my account.. can i do it immediately ? can anyone advise the process ? Appreciate the help

That i don't know as I already have TM account

But my guess would be cost of the phone plus one month and or activation fee if any

Did you actually bother going through the order process for a new activation? It took me less time than it probably took you to post that question to find out what the plan cost (aka, "hidden cost") is. No offense either but some people make it abundantly clear that they have no interest in a deal so long as they actually have to wake their brain cells from hibernation
