Thanks all for the advice around getting companion pass! Opted for the $149 card since it essentially pays for itself every year ($75 southwest credit and 7500 points annually).
Here's my plan for anyone who might benefit from it:
- Before 2022, spend UNDER $2000 (I'm aiming for $1800 to have a buffer) so that the 50,000 point bonus does not hit in this calendar year.
- In Jan (and before the 3 months from start of account) spend the remaining amount to get to $2000 for the first 50,000 bonus. (Total 50,000 points for 2022 towards 125,000 companion pass)
- SPEND LIKE CRAZY, to get the remaining of the 12k as quickly as possible. Second 50,000 point bonus hits after this. (Total 100,000 points towards 125,000 companion pass)
- In the course of this, in 2022, should accrue at least 10k points from spending point accrual (110,000 points towards 125,000 companion pass)
- for the remaining $15k points needed, either refer someone to the card for 20,000 points, or just migrate more of my spending to this card.
The goal is to get to 125,000 points accrued in 2022, as soon as possible in the calendar year to secure companion pass for the remaining months of 2022 and through all of 2023.
Thanks all, and good luck!
Also offering free canceled flights!
For spending using credit card, you can have minimum federal taxes deducted at your income source/salary etc and pay estimated taxes every quarter using credit card. 1.96% credit card fee is well offset by credit card point value/benefits. I have been doing that since I started cc churning. Just an idea for churners!

Would I be able to take advantage of this offer if I haven't had a bonus on my current sw premier card in over 2 years? or would I have to cancel and sign up for new card to get deal?
You have to cancel and sign back up. I need to do the same thing. But I already have CP for next year.
Maybe I'll do this next year. I'm just too lazy to cancel my existing card. 😆
Assuming you applied as a sole proprietor using your own name as the full business name, that sort of document request is very unusual for a Chase biz card. Not unheard of, but not something that should be expected.
For sole proprietor those documents are easy to acquired as well. I hope they really required those so legit business can get it easily.
So my gf and I both want to get this card and get the 100k bonus. She will likely hit the 125k much sooner. We both need the companion pass at once as we wont have a 3rd and 4th companion to bring. If i open the card now but hit my 2nd bonus 12 months from now next Oct 2022, ill be at 112k then..can i still get the pass (assuming the companion pass is still 125k) at a later date (say jan 2023 after my GFs pass expires)? Or do i need to earn the 125k all within that year?
**ok i think ive answered my own question, u gotta earn 125k in a year which is tough on its own.
"The product is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards® Credit Card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of any Southwest Rapid Rewards Credit Card who received a new Cardmember bonus within the last 24 months. This does not apply to Cardmembers of the Southwest Rapid Rewards Business Card and Employee Credit Card products."
This is different than in the past. It used to be available if you didn't have the particular card. Now any SW card seems to make you ineligible, unless the other card is a business card.
Question: if your existing business card is in your name (sole proprietor), are you still eligible for the personal card deal? I assume so given the excerpt from the terms above but just curious if anyone knows those details
I'm confused by the second paragraph, so am i not eligible at all because I currently own a Southwest card? Even if I hadn't had a bonus on my SW cards for more than 3+ years? what if I sign up for a different card
Just got an email from Chase SW reminding me to apply for this "limited time" offer which expires Dec 7, 2021.
So, whoever is planning on the spend etc to count towards 2022, can technically apply beginning of December and have it all counted towards 2022 spend on their first statement cycle. I already canceled my Priority card from last year and still have CP till this year end for my wife. Planning to apply this for my wife so I can tag along for 2022/2023.
I have a similar question. If I still have an active Chase Southwest Rapid Rewards Card, should i go ahead and cancel that first before i apply for a new card to get the 100k bonus?
I haven't had a Southwest credit card bonus in 4 years.

I've received bonus pts on Mar 2020, is this means I am not qualify even I might not get my bonus point unitl like Aprl 2022? so the earliest I can apply if Mar or can I apply now, not spending until Mar so my 24 months period will passed.
We plan to apply this card now, hopefully get it early November then spend about 12K plus 8K to 10K in nov and dec, by December 31. Do you guys think we can get the 125K point by end of 2021 to eligible for 2022 companion travel ?
Our goal is to get companion pass to use in 2022. What would be the best and quickest option ?
I currently have a SW credit card. Anyone have an idea how quickly you can cancel and reapply? Is there a waiting period?
I will make sure my balance is zero before cancelling.
You BOTH can have companion pass and you'd each get a free companion (the companion can be ANYBODY you choose, but you only can change the name 3x in a year). So if you are a family of 4, you'd only have to buy 2 tickets. What most of us do is we rotate the companion pass with the bonus offer since you can apply every 2 years (so doing it now for 2022-2023, then the companion in 2023 for 2024-2025, etc).
Just be careful with the 24 month restriction after the bonus is posted, not when you apply. I am planning to do the same as well for my family of 4.
Right you are: both parents can get a pass, buy two, get two free.
I was trying to see if we could buy one, get the companion (and their companion) to fly free....in other words, buy one, get TWO free. Spoiled by firework stands I guess 😋
Lol that was a weird logic you have of buying one and get the other two free. Never happened before.
