Thanks all for the advice around getting companion pass! Opted for the $149 card since it essentially pays for itself every year ($75 southwest credit and 7500 points annually).
Here's my plan for anyone who might benefit from it:
- Before 2022, spend UNDER $2000 (I'm aiming for $1800 to have a buffer) so that the 50,000 point bonus does not hit in this calendar year.
- In Jan (and before the 3 months from start of account) spend the remaining amount to get to $2000 for the first 50,000 bonus. (Total 50,000 points for 2022 towards 125,000 companion pass)
- SPEND LIKE CRAZY, to get the remaining of the 12k as quickly as possible. Second 50,000 point bonus hits after this. (Total 100,000 points towards 125,000 companion pass)
- In the course of this, in 2022, should accrue at least 10k points from spending point accrual (110,000 points towards 125,000 companion pass)
- for the remaining $15k points needed, either refer someone to the card for 20,000 points, or just migrate more of my spending to this card.
The goal is to get to 125,000 points accrued in 2022, as soon as possible in the calendar year to secure companion pass for the remaining months of 2022 and through all of 2023.
Thanks all, and good luck!
Also offering free canceled flights!
For spending using credit card, you can have minimum federal taxes deducted at your income source/salary etc and pay estimated taxes every quarter using credit card. 1.96% credit card fee is well offset by credit card point value/benefits. I have been doing that since I started cc churning. Just an idea for churners!

Are the points earned through this card different from the points I have from my Chase Sapphire Reserve card? If I get this other card do I need to "move" my points or they are just under my general account?
I am planning to buy house 6 months down the line, I am only guy earning, applying new credit and spending/repaying those credit will affect me for house mortgage anyway?
At 6 months out, you should still be OK to get one new card before you apply for the mortgage next spring/summer. Assuming you pay on time and keep utilization low, the score effect of the new card will be the hard pull, and decreased average age of credit. At 6 months, the effect of the hard pull will likely be reduced to a couple of points (and entirely gone at 1 year). The effect of Average Age will depend on the rest of your credit history.

These are Southwest Airlines Rapid Rewards points, not Chase points. Each month, when the points from spending/signup bonus/etc are given, they go directly to your Southwest Rapid Rewards account.
I am about to apply today 12/1 but since I read your post (thank you) , should I just wait until 12/5 to be more safe? After I get approved, can I start using the card or should I wait for January 1st?
Should i also apply for business as sole proprietor and if approved, do i not need to spend $12k for the next 12 months? please advise.
I applied for both cards and got them approved. PM me if you need help filling out the applications.
I last applied ~24 months ago. I can't figure out exactly when and Chase isn't helpful. I might be 10 days too soon.
If I apply now and its <24 months will I get some warning message? I just dont want to get approved do the spending and not get the points. Any insight appreciated

Thank you! This saved me some potential headache. Did not realize it's from when the bonus was posted...

Actually sorry, to clarify... can we not apply for the new card until 24 months after the bonus was posted? Or can we not receive the new card's bonus until then? Makes a bit of a difference as to when we can apply and start working towards CP.

Your new application date needs to be 24 months from bonus posting date. Both family (business and personal) have independent 24 month clock.
