So I have both since launch day for both respective products and I actually agree. You won't see any change in the functionality and the new remote isn't a huge leap forward. You can actually buy the remote itself for $50 MSRP if you REALLY wanted it. That being said this is the best price I've seen for the latest gen. You can't go wrong with either box but I feel at $80 the previous gen at Walmart is the best value.

If you add two 32gb and one 64gb it will work for $80 off.

I just bought this hoping it would resolve the eARC/ARC handshake issues I was having with the previous gen. But the issue still persists. I have the Sony X950G as my TV. I bought HDMI cables from monoprice certified for eARC. Anyone have any suggestions on how to resolve this? The issue occurs with dolby atmos sound, where it will cut out from time time whenever i'm streaming something with dolby atmos. Ironically, i've found that turning off the eARC output on my TV resolves this issue.
You need a HD Fury Arcana

And if you get the $50 off $500 coupon then there's another $50 off. The coupon expires 10/25. You can chat online to get it.

it doesnt. ive been using my 1st gen 4k tv for years, and I havnt had a single issue with it. never a stutter, things work great, only time I turn it off is when it updates or whatever.

that said, I never used the original controller, I use e harmony or whatever controller, has Apple TV, tv, etc all in 1. screw multiple remotes

not sure if it justifies the price, but it does have a few things people might want (much faster SoC, WIFI-6, high frame rate HDR). it's notable that the previous model was released ~4 years ago. otherwise the previous gen for $80 seems like a steal.

I'll hang onto my $79.00 deal from Walmart/BB from the other day.
Can you post the receipt that shows 2021 4K apple TV for 79.00? Walmart will sell for a loss of 50 bucks. The cost to retailers from apple is $130.

I had the same question - I have over 5 years of iPhone 4k home videos in .mov format (direct USB transfer from phone) that cannot play back on fire devices (x265 50-70Mbps). I have to spend hours re-encoding each one to <35Mbps (what the Fire devices can handle, even the 6 core Cube).

I was going to give the Nvidia Shield a try but if this Apple TV can do it, I'll do that instead.

How are these over the Roku Ultras? The airpod compatibility has me very interested but other than that I can't see much else.
