if I'm not mistaken this Roku+ has the longest range if your TV sits far from your Wi-Fi router.

For $5 more, Amazon has the Roku Streaming Stick 4K 2021 with Dolby Vision ($10 off normal price):
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product...UTF8&psc=1

Also, I think the 4K 2021 version is the one that has the longer range WiFi, with the WiFi receiver in the USB cable used to power the HDMI dongle as described here: https://www.tomsguide.com/reviews...g-stick-4k

While the discount for using the AMZN credit card is only 5% (vs 10% for the older model), I think it is still worth the extra $6 or $7 for the newer model to make it a little more future proof.

So?
Not like you can't get it somewhere else - like your phone/tab & cast it to your screen if you want it on a bigger screen.

98% of my tv watching is the ad - free YouTV channel on Roku.
Put on the tv, Roku, you tube, start watching something--all in about 7 seconds.
Not into time consuming phones casting, fidgeting around tv and casting programs connections, hassles, ,etc.etc.-- battery going dead, internet circling.
Guessing You Tube and Roku will work it out, if not dump Roku for another streaming device.
You Tube or Roku? Roku loses.

The newer stick also supports Wi-Fi 6 (AX) vs 5 (AC) for the older stick.

Uhh? I had to take a second look. While I would respect ROKU for pushing technology, its not very cost centric for how they operate as a business. ROKU themselves claim it's still AC and thats the only logical play here.

Not that it matters in real world situations. AX vs AC are more similar than people believe. It's more or less the 7-9dB SNR advantages over range when paired with AX router hardware.

2.4G AX would have legitimate benefits over previous N standard, albeit slower than AC.

I swear I saw a cnet article that said Wi-Fi 6 but now I can't find it. You're right. Sorry for all the misinformation.

looks like it is at this point, but it seems like new customers just won't be able to download the youtube apps from roku. If you had youtube app on your roku, you're safe for now

I can do all of that in 5 seconds.
Never had phone go dead yet.
Merlin firmware keeps my router humming.
Go to the bathroom & don't have to pause my TV.
You act like there's only one way to enjoy YT
