Yeah, no thanks.
Not if you're an existing customer. Maybe if you're new, but I did it with the Spire offer and this just now and no hard pulls either time.
Do I have to keep the $100 cash reward at Fidelity once I receive it?
Yes. While you don't need to keep your initial deposit of $50 in the new account for more than the qualification period, you must keep the $100 cash reward (minus any losses related to trading or market volatility, or margin debit balances) in the eligible account for a minimum of 90 calendar days starting from when you receive the reward.

*Edit: I just received the confirmation email confirming the promotion after not seeing details during the sign up process. It came about 30 minutes after signing up.*
Since I already have an account this took less than 2 minutes to setup.
I failed to verify that the promo code what applied, but when I go to the deal page it now tells me I'm ineligible so I'm assuming it took.
The bank transfer is not available for transfer immediately so I'll need to set a reminder to transfer the $50 into the new account.
I did not receive an email after my first attempt. I tried again opening a second account using the same promo code without any errors. Still no email. Not sure if the promo code took on the first attempt? Or both? Going to call shortly
Edit: received an email. It does not state which account qualified lol. Guess I'll be leaving both open for the next 30 days.
Thanks OP!
How long did it take to get the confirmation email?
Try it and see. I just did it, it asked me for my Fidelity account (401k) and it accepted it. Like I always do, I forget to add promo code to a deal like this, so I tried to open another account and it said "you can open this account but you aren't eligible for promo". So 1) My promo must have worked on first account and 2) its easy to find out if you are eligibile.
It asks you if you have a Fidelity account already .
To make a short story, long, you will know before you open the account if the promo will work for you or not.
Where to put the promo code? I did not see any step asking to enter promo code FIDELITY100
I already have my 401(k) with them. I clicked the link and got the Fidelity account to invest in small little stocks. I didn't see any place to put a promo code in because I signed in with my username and password. But I did get a confirmation email about $100. Totally worth I have $50 in an account for a little bit of time to get a 200% return
When you clicked on the offer and after you signed into your existing Fidelity account,
you should have landed on a confirmation page.
That confirmation has the promo code listed.
Which is preferred for a newbie to investing? Vanguard or Fidelity?
Either is fine, flip a coin. I have vanguard, I find the website and app hard to navigate, but is what it is. Focus on low cost index funds (VTSAX or FZROX) and your future self will thank you.
I have an existing Fidelity 401K and it already pre-populated all my info when I log-in by going through this promo offer link. However, it did not ask me to entre promo code anywhere in the process. How do I know if it was applied while opening the account?
