Yeah, no thanks.
Not if you're an existing customer. Maybe if you're new, but I did it with the Spire offer and this just now and no hard pulls either time.

Do I have to keep the $100 cash reward at Fidelity once I receive it?

Yes. While you don't need to keep your initial deposit of $50 in the new account for more than the qualification period, you must keep the $100 cash reward (minus any losses related to trading or market volatility, or margin debit balances) in the eligible account for a minimum of 90 calendar days starting from when you receive the reward.

Roth IRA is one of the best retirement route anyone should get, if you are in the early 30s and can spare $15 a day to Roth IRA, by the time you retire (say 65), there will be at least half a million totally tax free for you to use as you wish. this fund is in addition to other retirement funds from your employer if you have any (401k, 403b, pension etc....), by then you may not work as much as you do when you are young and have a decent amount of money to fall back on feel nice and less stressful Smilie

My father had a 403(b) because he worked for a non-profit. He didn't have a 401(k).
Once you leave your employer, you have the option to roll over the 403(b) to an IRA.
If you want to open an IRA with Fidelity, I suggest the Fidelity Total Market Index Fund.
It has a very low 0.015% expense ratio.
You get to keep more of the money the fund makes.

The very useful posts are buried under 25 pages of people mostly informing others about them getting or not getting email from fidelity; sometimes asking questions anyone could find answers to in faqs page of the deal. This is as frustrating as if OP was asking everyone individually if they liked and repped this deal. So did you like and rep the OP for posting this deal?

Which is preferred for a newbie to investing? Vanguard or Fidelity?

Same sh&t. Both are passive asset managers who invest in indices like SP 500. BUT people who work at Fidelity are smarter so hopefully they can invest your $150 better

I have both... I've had Vanguard much longer so it has my Roth and some other larger mutual funds. But I have grown to prefer Fidelity because their interface is much better. The screen that shows a table of my current holdings is way more informative than Vanguard.

Also, I recommend having the Fidelity Visa for 2% cash back used in tandem with a brokerage account.

Vanguard is giving me hell just to open an account. They keep asking for all types of ID and forms to open an account.
I tried to get in on this deal, but it seems I already have a Fidelity account through my employer that I've never looked into. So it's not letting me get the deal.

Are you doing this on a desktop or mobile/app. I tried to open a brokerage account a few months back and it said that to me each time I used my phone. Tried my desktop and it worked first time no issues.
My experience was totally opposite. LOL. I tried opening an account on desktop and got that message. Even tried different browsers but still same message. I was about to give up and then I saw your posting so I thought I'll give my app a try and that worked!! Thank you!
