Still waiting to replace my 1TB NVMe SSD I bought three years ago for $69. Samsung, SK Hynix and Micron stop colluding to milk the consumer at 1-2TB kkthx. We are ready to be cheated at 8-32TB.

Digitimes: Samsung new NAND flash capacity coming online in 2H21 may worsen price falls.

Everyone has been brainwashed to eat these high price because xyz reasons. It's easier and cheaper to print ssd NAND memory than make a hard drive yet you don't see those staying stationary at 1-2TB for the past 3 years.

The best deal would be the1TB P2 (FYI_ NO DRAM). More than adequate for storing all those big steam games files and still getting decent speed read/write.

Another FYI!! Crucial has swapped out the TLC flash that powered the initial P2 SSD we tested with QLC flash, severely reducing performance. SIGHT!!!

From my understanding, they did that on the P5 too. I lucked out and bought mine in June/July.

I really wish there was some sort of industry push to quantify the real stats on nvme, ssd, sd, etc..

Like, read/write speed really should have a set of benchmarks with the same environment and standard sets of conditions. Maybe I need the drive for my OS or maybe I need it for a video camera system.. or maybe I just need it for a huge file copy that goes as fast as possible once per day. It's crazy how you can't just look at a table and get all this - especially with the fact that even more reputable brands are recycling model numbers and replacing components with lesser components.

I love me some cheap storage.. but some of the stuff I thought was a good deal ended up being a huge slow headache right when it hurt the most. Like.. I just had a 750 gb backup go super fast for the first 80gb or so.. then slow down to a crawl for the rest. I ended up just leaving the drive at the location to get later when it's finished.

With Black Friday not too far off, I hope there is at least one good deal on quality NVMe.

Crucial stated they never guaranteed TLC in the 1TB and 2TB P2, btw

P2 is OOS 😒 I never followed any sale items on Newegg, do they ever come back in stock during the sale once they go OOS?

Is the Samsung T7 worth the price over the SanDisk 1TB NVME extreme for $99 at Costco.

I'm looking for a decently large external drive to organize my files before pushing them to HDD for long term storage.
