I personally prefer the Bessey bas23 2k.

The pivoting clamp heads allow you to clamp round objects and angles other than 90. I also find it works best for picture frames because my miters are never a perfect 90 due to warpage, and it pulls them real tight. Also has a longer strap.

1000lbs? What is this used for, rebar?

Talk about over-engineering.

How do you store the pivoting corner supports when the tool is not in use? Do they clip on the main tool somehow, or do you need a storage bag for the tool and the supports?

The pivoting heads attach to the strap with molded in clips, then you can slide on the strap for positioning. You just leave them on the strap and leave the crank handle on so it doesn't get lost.

Thank you for the answer. I'm leaning towards the Bessey because of the features and the nominal ~$5 price difference.

I was going to punch anyone who didn't start the thread with this.

The extra layer is imagining how a guy might actually use this…

Any reason to use this over just some regular ratchet straps?
Yes. I assume you meant just the ratchet straps without the hard corners. The hard corners keep the the mitered joint square and puts pressure evenly from both sides. Strap alone won't do that. I have the ratchet version of this clamp from Harbor Freight. I have 2 issues with it. One is the size. Due to the design, the minimum side width must be the width of the 2 corners plus the ratchet. That translates to the smallest box/frame I can use that clamp is 6" per side. The Dewalt looks like will allow you to clamp smaller box/frame. Two, it is less intuitive to use than a handle bar. I don't use ratchet much at all. The 2 times I used the clamp, I had to look up on how to loosen it.
