Serious question, how good are these things? I like steak but sometimes I don't want to go outside. But then it seems like the splatter and mess of these things would negate any inconvenience of going outside lol. Pan fried some ribeye yesterday but missing the grill

Cast iron skillet is the way to go on steaks. Easy to clean after you are finished too.

I do have a cast iron skillet but the walls are pretty low and oil splatters everywhere. I guess ill cook outside, frying pan steak isnt as good. Maybe ill try cast iron outside on a propane burner

I don't have this particular make/model but I like it. It's not as much splatter as you think, but yes it doe splatter. Make sure you drain as much marinade as much as possible to minimize splatter. Also more sugar means more burnt especially if you keep cooking it on high heat, but you should adjust heat as you go.
This is fun with a group of 4-6 adults. Any more and it's constant waiting. Make sure you have other bon chaan (side dishes) to tide you over.
Don't go for big cuts. Go for smaller, thinner cuts of meat/fish/vegetables to make cooking faster.
The fan does affect the heat of the cooking surface. We adjust again as needed. Its not as much work as it sounds and is fun with a group of family and friends.

My mom and sister have been using one, made by Presto, for years. I was just talking about to today. I'm gonna find the newest Presto model and order one. Very convenient device to have on deck.

EDIT: found it! https://www.gopresto.com/product/...llet-06857

I believe that's a skillet

I'm not entering the griddle vs skillet conversation here. Just wanted to say this Amazon has the Presto recommended product for $20 less than the Presto link.

These types of things are fine for grilling some chicken breast and other things, but they just not steak. Steak is best done pan fried. Preferably cast iron/carbon steel though I just use stainless steel because I'm to lazy for cast iron/carbon steel maintenance.
