I own the Harbor Freight square and am trying to resist the urge to buy the Milwaukee set!
I've noticed there is a difference in aluminum quality. Empire and Milwaukee are easily dented compared to Swanson or Johnson.
Thanks Munkle!

Swanson is fine, but check any of the cheap models. Besides using for 'square,' I doubt if 1 out of a 100 knows how to use a rafter square, or what all those marks are for. But, the red is pretty.
Personally, I find a 12" more useful, but nice to have a full set along with a decent framing square and a good combination square like a Starrett that granted, is an investment.
Just draw a square line on a board from one edge, flip the square over as in left to right or right to left from the same edge and see if the line matches. It is that simplistic. Now, all of those graduate marks will take a little more time to verify.
Do similar when checking levels by flipping end for end for level and flipping side to side for plumb to see if the bulb is in the same exact spot. Even a $10 Stanley will work if you check before buying and using.
