Many Amazon reports of failure or slow downs in a short time frame. I would personally stay away or just invest in a better brand. even on SlickDeals, cheaper is not always better.

These drives are a bit of mystery meat, not sure what's inside. See this spreadsheet:
https://docs.google.com/spreadshe...edit#gid=0

If anybody buys, run the SMI tool to see what's inside:

So gotta know controller/flash memory type, otherwise we are all in the dark. These are pretty generic brands, so may go more quality or less - and that'll impact the product.

I purchased one to upgrade a friend's Dell Optiplex, and it had the same SMI SM2258XT controller and 72L Hynix NAND as the CX2 model (which it replaced in Team Group's lineup) I had purchased previously. I also have a 1TB GX2, which the CX2 replaced in the lineup, and it has the same controller, but 64L Micron NAND.

Anecdotal, of course, but I've purchased quite a few SSD's from Team Group over the years and found them to be a good value and reliable.

I would urge caution running that utility.

I'm 99.99% it is DRAMless.

Cons: lower write speeds, shorter life span
Pros: cheaper, same read speed (as DRAM ssd), smaller chance of data loss in the event of a power outage.

Personal experience: For a couple of years now I have an INLAND 480GB that is a horse beat for work with a lot of small files... works perfectly fine for that purpose!

Team Group response on Amazon: GX2 series SSD is DRAM-less.
If you are looking for SSD with DRAM, you might be interested in this product: www.amazon.com/dp/B075JMG7TM

Since this drive doesn't have DRAM, it would be out of the question as a boot drive, correct? But how would it perform as a drive to store game files?

Probably just fine since you'll be reading files more often than writing them, and it isn't too intensive of a workload on the drive. As a basic 1tb model, this seems to be an OK deal given our current market.

Used to own an X1S and I put inside an SSD. Worked well no problems, loading was much faster. Not sure which version you're referring to
