You always pay for batteries. If you feel like you have gotten batteries for free then the marketing department did what they aimed to do, but you still paid for batteries 😉

Not sure, but there must be better batteries inside. Now that all Ridgid batteries have the LSA, this pair of 4AH batteries looks to be a great deal. No other brand I know of sells them at this fair price with the LSA. This thread should get more thumbs up, I think the average person here does not know that this is free batteries for life after purchase.

It would be a higher peak DISCHARGE current. 18650s can have higher discharge ratings but the same capacity, which is generally going to cost you more. What that can get you is more torque with the same tool, if it can handle it, since peak discharge current is what matters there.

Anyone know the difference between these and the Max output line? They look the exact same other than the colors.

Very interesting that it would appear the new batteries are eligible for the LSA (8th pic of the product page) without being part of a kit

that's what I was thinking too; maybe this is a new stance for HD, that batteries by itself is eligible for LSA.

They probably added LSA to batteries since Lowe's does it for their new Flex brand.

They finally had it in store last week. I was able to avoid online purchase, and use the military discount.

just need to make sure you follow up with ridgid via chat or phone call to complete the process on their end.

This is a solid deal on the big 4AH batteries. Plus LSA for stand alone batteries.

Max is the best battery Ridgid have at the moment. I believe the battery gives you more amperage. I'm slowly switching over to other brands since Ridgid stopped producing their Octane battery series. They're becoming like Makita where all batteries are the same size, just the amperage is different.

Spoke to Ridgid. They said the max output has something on the circuit board to give a little extra amperage to their octane and brushless tools. Representative said about a 20% boost vs the plain 4ah battery.

This isn't a bad deal, but I got these 2 batteries with charger and case for the same price back in April…

I'm assuming this is not an Octane battery and the same regular battery that they bundled with Octane tools

Whatever people have to say about Regular/Max/Octane and what's better - for the average person this is a really solid deal on larger batteries, let alone batteries with full LSA eligibility!

Buy now, think later - if you're in the Rigid Ecosystem.

Just curious, how weird and unwieldy is it to use these on their subcompact brushless 3/8" impact wrench, given how bottom-heavy and bulky it makes it?
