Does the Costco laptop have an additional ram slot?
Yes, and you can use a 32gb stick in each slot for max of 64GB ram..

Assuming that you paid with the Costco Visa:

1st year is manufacture, talk to HP.
2nd year is Costco concierge service at 1-866-861-0450.
Year 3+4 are covered by the Costco Visa, talk to the credit card company, number on the back of the card.
Thanks for the info. was just days within 2 year concierge service, and they honored it and would replace it.

I figured since the manufacturer's warranty was only a year, I was out of luck. Someone else mentioned here that if it was purchased with a Costco CC, it might have a 3 year warranty.

Looking through my email, it says it was purchased with a Costco Shop card, so I don't know if that extends the warranty or not.

Let me know what you find out.
Paid with Costco Citi card, so they honored the concierge service and replacing it.

If anyone gets this and has issues with the realtek WiFi card installed. Please upgrade to an Intel 7260 or something like that. You will be very happy you did. All the HPs I know that have been sold since last year all have weird WiFi issues

What does laptop RAM (assuming 3200) go for these days? 32GB sticks?

I would at least consider this Dell for $70 more: https://deals.dell.com/en-us/productdetail/bai6

The Dell gets you:
- much nicer build quality (aluminum lid and keyboard deck)
- full-service USB-C (that supports DisplayPort and power, which I believe this HP does not)
- about 40% higher battery capacity
- easy upgradability (2 SODIMM slots, 8GB is occupying only one slot); based on my experience the HP will also be much harder to open up for RAM and other upgrades;
- much more reliable Intel wifi/BT than the Realtek chip used by HP
- gray keys, with much better visibility than the HP's white-on-silver keys
- fingerprint reader

These are not the headline specs, but they make a huge difference in usability. IMHO well worth the price difference.

I have the Dell and it's a shockingly nice computer for the midrange of the Inspiron lineup - in some ways it feels nicer than a Inspiron 7000 series that a family member has.

It goes back even farther than just the past year. Every single laptop (not just HP) I've ever used with Realtek wifi has suffered random disconnects and weird speed drops, with a wide range of wifi routers/access points. Intel's laptop chips mostly suck at the moment, but I absolutely insist on Intel wifi/BT. It amazes me that HP continues to use Realtek chips, because surely they have the analytics that can tell them that on average the laptops with Realtek wifi result in more calls to tech support, easily erasing the 72 cents or whatever they saved on each chip.

I already have a laptop, but I played with this laptop at Costco today for about 20-minutes and restarted it a couple times, it is very responsive and fast booting. apps open & close very quickly, I am surprised how far i3 processors have come ( the SSD helps a lot too ) .

at $380 I would totally recommend this to friends and family.

It was $299 in 2019 Christmas time (with 10th gen processor). I got 2 at that time - and it actually came with i5 processor 4 core-8thread… that was an amazing deal
Yes, indeed. That was a glorious time.

Would this be good enough for a tween to play fortnite and Minecraft on? We also have the ultimate gaming pass, so I believe he could play some other games from Microsoft as well. Thanks.

I just went to grab the laptop to call Costco, as I have until the 9th to make a warranty claim. Dang thing booted up without issue.

I had already opened it up, disconnected the battery, discharged it, and plugged it back in with no luck. Somehow letting it sit for 2 months got it going again.

Why are some in this thread saying they see the laptop for $299? I'm seeing it at $380.

I got the 15.6" variant from Best Buy for $329 which is now OOS. Pretty snappy little thing and has a Samsung SSD drive.
