Deal Details
Capital One is launching its first-ever premium travel credit card, Venture X

Here are the initial card details of the Venture X card:

Welcome bonus: The Venture X will launch with an offer of 100,000 bonus miles after spending $10,000 on purchases in the first six months, and for a limited time, cardholders can also get up to $200 in statement credits for vacation rental purchases like Airbnb and Vrbo charged to their account within the first year.

Earning: The Venture X will earn 10 miles per dollar on hotels and car rentals booked via Capital One Travel, 5 miles per dollar on flights booked via Capital One Travel and an unlimited 2 miles per dollar on everything else.

Statement credit: Up to $300 back in statement credit annually for bookings made through Capital One Travel.

Anniversary bonus: 10,000 bonus miles every account anniversary, starting on your first anniversary (worth $100 toward travel).

Lounge access: Complimentary access for cardholders, authorized users and up to two guests per visit to Capital One Lounges and to more than 1,300 Priority Pass lounges worldwide.

Authorized users: Up to four authorized users can be added at no charge, and AUs get Capital One Lounge access with up to two guests.

Global Entry or TSA PreCheck: Up to $100 in statement credits for either TSA PreCheck or Global Entry.

Annual fee:
$395.

Application link: https://www.capitalone.com/credit...venture-x/

This looks like a great card for travel compared to Chase Sapphire Reserve and Amex Platinum. Especially I like the lower annual fee part and the sign up bonus also looks generous.

Do we have to use the $300 travel credit before 2021? Or is it $300 within the first year?

This is not entirely accurate. The miles earned can be used for almost any travel expense and this includes the bonus miles. The $300 annual travel credit is the only reward that has to redeemed through Cap One Travel. For anyone that travels at least once per year this card is a no-brainer. The bonuses easily cover the card fee and one will get at least 2% back on all purchases. I have the regular Venture with the $95 fee and I plan to product change without the sub. The new Venture X easily beats Chase Sapphire Reserve and imho it blows Amex Platinum out of the water.
Can you expound on how the Vx easily beats CSR? I have the CSR and my main concern is the $300 travel credit. With CSR you get credit with any related travel charge, while Vx you have to use their portal. Outside of that concern I'm trying to decide if making the switch so worth it.

Where did it come from? I haven't gotten it and approved on the same day.
North Pole.

Mine arrived today. The metal card noticeably heavier than my Amex Propel or Chase SR. I hope i dont have to tip my waiter more LMAO

It's easy for me. First off you're already ahead $155 on the fee difference. If one does travel I'm sure you could find an easy redemption on the Cap One portal. Points redeem for at least 2% on all other purchases. The 10,000 bonus points make the fee a wash for most customers. I'd rather get 2% on all purchases versus 1%. For me Cap One works out better but if you're happy with Chase keep it.

I don't really need the bonus. While it would be nice I'm not sure if it's worth 3 hard pulls.

you can do that, but I don't think you'll be able to get the new signup bonus incentives with a product change.

Can someone with the card confirm whether or not C1 travel portal lets us choose between different economy fare types (basic/main/refundable) just like booking direct with the airlines? Thanks.

i have a couple of questions on referrals -
1. Is there any referral bonus if you are referred by someone?
2. If someone is already a CapOne customer (but not venture holder) then will they be eligible for referral bonus?

Anyone know if Authorized users can get the Global Entry benefit? I see one credit per account but not sure if account means per card or per primary account holder

Indeed he has a vested interest in promoting the card, I'm sure hes directly or indirectly via his links and getting paid for it. TPG's reviews = gain of salt. at best a guidance thats it.
Is there a more reliable resource you can recommend?

TPG has a reputation for, among other things, exaggerating the average value of points/miles. Remember, he and the company he sold out the site to make a lot of money simply by inducing people to apply for specific offers for specific credit cards.

Getting $1850 out of the bonus is possible, but well beyond a 'normal' redemption to a significant degree.
I'm new to the travel scene. Are there other resources you can recommend for me to learn how to maximize these benefits?
