Works way better on Android (former Note series user). On my iPhone in order for an activity to sync automatically, the Garmin Connect app must be open. On my Notes, the activity would sync immediately then when I opened garmin connect it was already there. Also on Android, you can select which notifications you want to receive on the watch. iPhone doesn't allow this.
It's probably Apple being Apple.

But still I would take a Garmin Fenix or Instinct Solar over an Apple Watch all day. Why would I need another phone on my wrist? And that you'll have to charge every night? Then Apple will make you feel like a loser if you don't upgrade the next year

I think the S just means its 40mm face instead of 45mm, but I may be wrong.

It depends on what is your application. What features are important to you (the must vs would be nice), what are you willing to sacrifice for other features or price, etc.
Stylsh: Vivoactive or Venu
Running: Forerunner
Outdoor: Instinct
Multi-sport fancy: Fenix
Each line, in turn has versions. The higher the number, the more you pay and get.

Yes. The solar ones are currently on sale around $250. The older version (non-solar) is on sale around $160.

Also is there any reason why Phoenix solar is much more expensive than this model?

The fenix has extra features, but the instinct does what most users need. J

Fenix Solar is their newest flagship line. As siggydawg stated, it has extra features with 3 different size, build quality (titanium) and battery life choices. Fenix screen is color vs monochrome.

From the reviews I've seen, the solar charging for the Fenix is more or less a gimmick compared to the Instinct - due to the extremely thin solar charging lens. There are youtube videos comparing the solar charging capabilities between Fenix and Instinct and there's really no comparison.

Yes all good points. Go to dcrainmaker's website for any detailed review you could ever hope for on these types of items. Fenix is going to be more for anyone who isn't new to these models and knows specifically what they are looking for. The instinct is great if you want a more rugged Casio look with the standard run/hike/bike features. Vivoactive is a good one for general use as well and has decent golf usability but less rugged.

How much is the CPS warranty worth?
As the watch is being offered by many retailers, I'm trying to figure out if the buydig perk is worth it.

It literally says on Buydig at the watch site that's its worth $60. Amazon has Asurion 3 yr warranty you can add for $34.

The Buydig promotes the the CPS warranty as $60, but it is not worth that.
I'm guessing lower than Asurion, so maybe $20?

On the watch:
Is it readable in the dark? Does it have active backlight?
Does it have a vibration timer/alarm?

Returned my Instinct Solar after trying it on. It's not as comfortable as the original Instinct was, probably due to the newer hr sensor. I noticed this in a Forerunner 45 as well with the newer hr sensor. It feels like it pushes down on my wrist as if they designed the HR sensor to stick closer to your skin no matter how loose you wear it. Thought about getting Fenix 6 but I'll wait for Fenix 7 as I hear they're changing hr sensor. In the meantime I'll hang on to my Fenix 3 HR that is still running like new

The question for me though: Is this worth 2X the price of the Instinct solar that will be $250 starting tonight? Probably not, but it sure would be nice to have a Germain.
What do u mean Germain?

Is this better than the 935? Feels like two different use cases but I can see some overlap…

I have the 935 and don't do triathlons.
I still want an Instinct though the overlapping features indicates that I don't need it. I like the way it looks.
