I feel it's important for anyone considering purchasing one of these, that they are NOT meant for 'crossfit' style push-ups that involve repetition based on momentum. This type of application would be considered inappropriate and the pull up bar WILL come loose. I'm not sure how someone could find favor in a litigation as a result of improper product usage but I am glad that the person in this case is compensated. That said this product IS SAFE as long as you do true, proper form, slow repetition pullups

I'm really sorry to hear about your brother. Can you share what happened with it that caused this to happen to him? We use one regularly and want to be aware of a potential concern for our health.

He was doing them too fast. Momentum had it come off.
He is a millionaire now, but what he goes through on a day to day basis is not worth all the money in the world. It's been almost 8 years now.
Get a pull up bar that actually screws with anchors.

I bought these when it last went down on sale. Be aware that the handles are shallow. And there's no cushion for the door frame. Some better pull up bars have that cushion pad to protect your frame. This doesn't. But it's also $5

Considering that top trim piece on the door is held to the wall by a few 18 gauge finishing nails, I can see how this can fail.

The design of the bar is such that the weight of the user is distributed towards the outer bars as much as (if not more than) on the upper bar
I'm 6' 190# and have used these for years without issues.

luckily didn't have safety issues, but this damaged the frame and left marks all over the place .. stopped using all of these things
