The trade-off with the HP from Target with the same price from last week is this one has HDMI out and a i3-1115G4, while the Target had the i3-1125G4 and no HDMI?

There is a significant gain with the measly $10 around that glorious i3-1125G4 - a four core CPU that is an i5 in all but name. The Target PC has HDMI, just not HDMI 2.0 so no high refresh rate output gaming... on your budget productivity laptop laugh out loud. I've seen passionate defenses of these dual-core i3-1115G4 CPUs, and they're not broken, but when you can get a 4-core upgrade (and the associated performance gains) for the price of a couple of Subway sandwiches...

Really, the Target offer is the current bar on what anyone should be shopping in the retail productivity laptop space. If it can't bother with 1080p screen and four i-series cores at $340 then pass unless you have a very specific application that can get by with less.

Good luck!
Jon

In your opinion, this laptop is better performing than the Target laptop? Also, what about the Walmart deal?

Do you have a link to the Wal-Mart deal?

Good luck!

That is nonsense. Target has the HDMI port like all modern laptops do (link below shows images of target laptop)

Thanks. I'd skipped on that one but would say that at least $280 is the right price in the context of the $340 Target deal. As such, this $330 deal is an easy pass. If you can get in on the $280 Wal-Mart deal and accept the compromises of the i3-1115G4 then go for it. If you're shopping for the best spend of $330 then look at what $10 more gets you right now in the form of the Target deal.

None of these systems is broken, but the $340 Target configuration (with the four core i3-1125G4) is simply so easy to recommend as a good, long-term value system for the vast majority of use cases.

Good luck!

Thanks for all the information you've been posting on all the HP deals. I, among others, was lucky to get Target to PM the Walmart deal.

Having not had that particular BF offer on my radar (b/c of the dual-core CPU) I was initially confused because I've been tracking i3-1125G4 deals closely (I tried to do the same with the 8th generation i3 4-core CPUs, but systems with those models were as rare as hen's teeth).

Seems as if a lucky few have convinced Target to price match to a laptop with lower specs?

Good luck!

If I am just using laptop as a travel pc to browse the web when in hotels is the walmart pc ok for that? The only program I might add is iTunes but other than that it won't get use beyond web browsing. I picked up the staples laptop deal last month with similar specs to the target deal as a gift for Xmas but if the 279 walmart deal is OK for what I mentioned then I'll get that one as a gift and keep the other. It's for my mom who just browses and likes to shop online.
