Please consider changing the thread title from Intel Core 11th Gen i3 to Intel i3-1115G4. There are two very distinct i3 11th generation CPUs out there, the budget/value dual core i3-1115G4 and the four core i3-1125G4. The latter is an i5 in all but name, with identical Passmark scores to the immediate i5 model up the ladder (and lacking only the newer Xe-generation integrated graphics).

FYI: the following was based upon my failure to recognize this was a Chromebook. See my post here for notes on this somewhat uniquely positioned premium Chromebook. TLDR: running ChromeOS doesn't necessarily make this a better deal, but does make it one of very few options for a Chromebook shopper with these specific options on their shopping list.
This would have been a real Slickdeal with a quad core CPU. As it stands, this is really the right price as it represents a $100-ish discount on comparable, refurbished 2-in-1 laptops which do have quad core CPUs (check Micro Center).

Good luck!

Sorry for any misunderstanding, but I am not some kind of Slickdeals saboteur. Rather, I'm just another rando deals enthusiast, probably with just as much to say about power strips as PCs these days.

This is a powerful Chromebook. This is also a $400 Chromebook. You like it and I'm more in the pretty good but maybe not for everybody(?) camp. I don't think that puts us on opposite sides. I don't consider you a competitor, but rather assume that we're all working together to evaluate and promote the best deals (and maybe tamp down some of the more obnoxious shilled deals?).

At the same time, I have found some of your posts less than pleasant. With so many posts and a nice Pro flag on your profile, might I ask that if along with the volume of posts you're contributing to the community you also consider what you're doing to foster the same level of participation and engagement among the other community members?

Good luck!

Just got mine. I bought an open box - excellent certified. Looked brand new to me. Checked the battery cycle count and it hadn't even been discharged 1 cycle. Awesome deal for the open box price also.

This was with 15 tabs open and several apps active.

Octane Score: 55,835

My Flex 3 Celeron 4020 got 13,373
Those are all great scores well in line with the ranges typically posted for both Tiger Lake CPUs as well as for the Atom-based N4020. The MediaTek ARM CPUs range even lower, generally between 8,000-11,000, which has driven me to avoid those models. However, the Jasper lake models (as well as ARM-based Snapdragon 7c) have scored right in between the two tiers (at Octane scores in the low-20k).

Of course, pricing tends to reflect that horsepower number well. Most every $100 Chromebook deal has been a MediaTek model. The older Atom-based models then fill that space in the $100-$200 range. After that the Jasper Lake and Snapdragon 7c models appear. And lastly, as with this listing, all the i-series CPU models start populating the lineup.

Good luck!

It is even cheaper Open-Box Excellent $326.99.

Been looking for 8GB DDR, NVME and I3. This has all of that and HDMI 2.0

I may finally get my 55" TV to run 4k @ 60hz.

It is 4.3 pounds and rather thick but I can live with that. Mostly it will stand on a stand.
I got mine yesterday as open box for $326.99 and I'm very impressed with the speed, the backlit keyboards and number keypad. Somewhat heavy but it's ok. I love it!

That's a steal.

When this first popped up a couple of weeks ago I suggested everyone buy open box Chromebooks, since there aren't really anything to go wrong with them. The Physical part is easy to verify and reject if it is something other than what you are willing to accept. Unfortunately, I didn't secure an open box before they all got sucked up in my area.

Quite the deal. I wanted it shipped. Well worth the $326.99 no sales tax here either. That was part of it those were in high tax areas.

I'd dare say that no one who buys this Chromebook would be disappointed with it relative to any other Chromebook. The problem I see with premium Chromebook threads is in part that so many users get the idea so this is the Chromebook for me when reality these premium Chromebooks can be very targeted to premium Chromebook buyers. This particular Chromebook layers on two relatively premium features which, in combination, could justify the price for the right shopper. In fact, it has one relatively rare quality that alone might justify its price to the right buyer.
  • A 15.6" 1080p screen in a convertible form factor
  • An Intel i-series CPU (not an ARM like from MediaTek or Qualcomm; not an Intel Atom
If you're buying this Chromebook solely as a convertible 15.6" model then you're probably all set because, as common as convertible Chromebooks are, there are few to none in this size! On top of that, the larger Chromebooks often command a price premium as manufacturers typically churn out low-cost 11.6" models in volume.

If you're simply seeking a large 15.6" touch screen model you could easily find them for almost half the price. Target has the Acer CB315-3HT-C16B under DPCI 056-01-0093 for $220. That model features a much less powerful Intel N4000 CPU (an Atom-based, efficiency-oriented CPU), However, that CPU is also a great option for a large swath of Chromebooks users, including power users who utilize Android and Linux on their devices (including me!).

I wouldn't say that the CPU in this Chromebook justifies the price premium alone, but rather that this CPU is a significant value-add to the rather unique form factor of this device.

Good luck!
Jon
Talk about comparing apples to oranges.

You compare this to trash. Celeron are you out of your mind. 4GB DDR. I am constantly using about 6GB.

You can always spend less for less. So what. Not all of us want less.

I like the size on my stand and flipping it brings the screen closer. I generally use a monitor and a keyboard and mouse anyway but nice to be able to use it for travel as well.

Why do you go to sales just to try to trash them?

I'm jealous. I actually wanted this for myself but handed it over to my daughter for her high school work & games. As I tested it, it was fast and checked all my boxes besides lack of fingerprint & screen brightness. I use a HP 14" 2 in 1 with I3 ,8 gb ram, slower emmc memory and dim screen but speakers are loud enough. Would love those oled chromes but I don't need 3 $300 chromebooks now lol.

Besides volume anything to note about sound quality? Yes, I know it's just a laptop so it's only going to be so good.

Allow me to quote my original post to which you replied. An objective read of any one of these statements should suggest that I am only speaking positively regarding this product.

Oldest trick in the book. Say something good then trash it to reduce sells of your competitors. That way you cal say well I did praise the product. Ignoring how much trashing of it you did.
