Forged aluminum from a steel company... There's some irony in there somewhere....

Are these pans generally good quality for the price? I've had mixed experiences with purchasing home goods from Macy's and some items on "sale" turn out to be full price elsewhere ๐Ÿ˜…

Idk, but I don't use nonstick. I prefer nonstick aluminum, cast iron, or carbon steel. Get them seasoned up, and they're better than nonstick, and they don't eventually flake off into your food.

Brooklyn Steal is probably closer to the mark. They never smelted steel in Brooklyn, not to mention these are Aluminum pots n pans... Most likely made in Asia.

I just carbon steel and love it. Never cooked with aluminum. How does it compare? TIA

I don't have a ton of experience, unfortunately. I mostly use carbon steel and cast iron, but when I visited the my sister, her cheap nonstick pans made me about cry, so I bought her a one when we were in a second hand store. It was cast aluminum. Heat distribution is good, but not induction compatible, I think. Seasoning process was similar to the others, if memory serves.

Can you recommend a simple how to video on how to season cast iron?

Steel is irony, it contains iron and carbon. Aluminum has no iron.

(I'll see myself out.....)

That Sedona 16" roaster and rack for $9.99 is carbon steel and stainless steel. Also, there's a 3 gallon, 5 layer stock pot with lid and inserts for $40, also by Sedona.

Bad reviews on the few that exist. Reports and photos of chipped paint. You don't want to cook with something that may flake off material into your food. Save the money for a better quality pan.
