I learned real quick that Iike a dedicated fingerprint button. With it behind the screen, the screen has to be on for it to work. I like leaving ambient screen, auto brightness and all that stuff off, and if you leave fingerprint enabled, the Pixel doesn't allow you to turn off ambient display. Even with "lift to check" and everything else disabled, the screen still lights up with movement and what not (as of now the only way to keep your ambient screen off is to disable fingerprint). Highly annoying. unlocking my phone is something I do prob 50+ times a day. With a dedicated button on the back and I can easily unlock the phone before I remove it from my pocket.
For you, sure.
For others? $399 is a good deal for quick software updates, good cameras, 5g, water resistance, and other features this phone has.
I think this is the first pixel phone to not have the free Google photo cloud storage. Every pixel after this are in the same boat, including the 6 and 6 pro. That to me was the selling point of pixel. Sure it's not too bad to pay for a plan to get more storage, but that adds up over time, and photos and videos will only get bigger and use more. It's sad that Google decides to discontinue that on the later pixels. I'd rather pay 50 more to have it upload free for life…

Does anybody know how long they give you to mail in your trade-in phone? Can it be done at a later date altogether? I won't be in the US with my old Pixel 3a until mid-December but I don't want to miss out on the deal before then, and I definitely want the trade-in value.
Sort of related, is it possible to trade in more than one phone at a time? I have a 3 and a 3a and I'm just going to trade the higher valued otherwise.
So my situation is this; I want to get the phone and then activate the google fi first time deal by December 14th so I can use up my older carrier's balance for this month.
Does it matter if I get the phone by selecting the unlocked or try google fi on us option? If I want to activate it with Fi but not until December does it matter at all which option I pick? What's the difference then even? Is it just that Fi version will be preloaded with some Fi networking stuff that I would have to set up with the unlocked one? Basically saving me time/trouble?
I ordered the unlocked one yesterday and yet, got this email this morning so it may not matter which you select.
The P2 XL was $140 or less a few months ago. NIB. Sure it's not getting any updates, but considering we drive these around for 2 years before the battery goes flat, are updates that important?
I'm on a Pixel 3aXL with a loose usb c port, where the usb c charger can come off the phone very easily. It's a bit annoying and I might actually hop on this deal. I really like the back-mounted fingerprint as sliding the pixel out of my pocket, it's usually already unlocked by time the pixel reaches my eyesight.
USB C ports are known to get lint and crud built up in there and the plug doesn't click like it used to.
You may want to try cleaning it out. I've used sewing needles to dig the stuff out, a toothpick may be safer but I've had no issues with the needles.
It's amazing how much fuzz gets in there.
Yeah pretty good deal. They sold out everywhere. In my area 4g works better then 5g and I like smaller size phone compared to 5a or pixel 6
I was lucky to score a 4a from a from B&H recently. They had small batch come in. I paid $350 for it. I know the 5a with 5g seems like a better deal, but I want a small and light phone. I also don't want 5g cooking my nuts.
Uhh did I get a returned phone? Just ordered one from the google store for the deal, it has a ripped off sticker where the S/N is on the box but whatever all the information is there, I open the phone up and it looks brand new BUT the phone was face down instead of face up in the plastic, so the camera was up, is this normal? The two little strip stickers on either side of the box were not opened but I have never in my life seen a phone come face down in the box....everything else looked new but I paid for a new phone, not a return.

Should be fine. Most new iPhone models I know come face down & camera up in the box. Not sure about the new Pixel. Find Pixel 5a unboxing videos on YouTube and you will see.
Coming from a P4a, the P5a feels great weight-wise (a little heavier than 4a, but not so much heavier as P6 feels) and size-wise (a little larger and same thickness). Battery is leaps and bounds over P4a; I also disabled 5G as I don't care about it (it also helps w/ battery life though). The rear FP reader is super fast, just like P4a.
Flashed the latest A11 w/ October 2021 security update; A12 sucks.
I pre-ordered P6 on release day; I hated it after of couple hours of playing with it. Worse cell signal strength than P4a, MUCH heavier (who the hell thought of a glass rear cover; WHY?), unimpressed w/ battery life (even w/ 5G disabled), and, oh god, that inaccurate, slow as molasses, stupid under the screen FP reader w/ terrible reading accuracy...
I get it. From a pure specs perspective P6 is newer and better than P5a. However, the user experience is so much better on the 5a! I returned the P6. P5a is a keeper.
PS: If you're on Verizon, make sure you go to a store and upgrade to a 5G sim card or you'll be unable to receive text messages.
Unlocked Pixel 5a 5G is now out of stock on the Google store website. It says to check back later. Purchased one around 3pm today, 11/22. By 9pm, no inventory available except for the Fi version. IMHO, Finis expensive plan.

Mine also was similar. I also got the doubt whether it was a returned phone. The side sticker had been ripped off. I have returned the phone.

(EDIT: Newegg still has them.)

No wireless charging kills the deal with this phone.
