I learned real quick that Iike a dedicated fingerprint button. With it behind the screen, the screen has to be on for it to work. I like leaving ambient screen, auto brightness and all that stuff off, and if you leave fingerprint enabled, the Pixel doesn't allow you to turn off ambient display. Even with "lift to check" and everything else disabled, the screen still lights up with movement and what not (as of now the only way to keep your ambient screen off is to disable fingerprint). Highly annoying. unlocking my phone is something I do prob 50+ times a day. With a dedicated button on the back and I can easily unlock the phone before I remove it from my pocket.
For you, sure.
For others? $399 is a good deal for quick software updates, good cameras, 5g, water resistance, and other features this phone has.
I think this is the first pixel phone to not have the free Google photo cloud storage. Every pixel after this are in the same boat, including the 6 and 6 pro. That to me was the selling point of pixel. Sure it's not too bad to pay for a plan to get more storage, but that adds up over time, and photos and videos will only get bigger and use more. It's sad that Google decides to discontinue that on the later pixels. I'd rather pay 50 more to have it upload free for life…

I never really a plethora of better cybermonday deals. The only other thing you can do is wait until Samsung does their annual refresh on January/February, as they usually have some incredible trade in deals.
I'm sorry I don't quite understand your first sentence. Are you saying that there probably wouldn't be more smartphone deals this come cybermonday?
I just don't want to get this phone and then realize there are buncha new deals on cybermonday

Yeah missed a word sorry.
I don't want to say never, but the likelyhood of a better deal is doubtful in my experience.
what is going to happen if I do a trade in for the 5a, and the trade-in value got accepted(for example $150). Then a better deal comes along and I decided to return the phone before Jan 10th? Is google going to refund the full $399 to me or $249 ? How does that work? Thank you.
Purchased two of these for myself and my wife. Sadly this looks to be the last phone with a physical fingerprint scanner (you know, one that actually works). I had this on my 3a XL and loved it! Went to the Samsung A71 5G and am going back as the in screen fingerprint readers don't work for crap. I don't know why these phone companies keep going away from things that work to things that don't. The ability to access my phone in a fraction of a second is invaluable. Not to mention accessing things like my bank/credit card accounts, OnStar App, etc all with the touch of a finger (literally a touch, not a hold, move finger, hold, move finger, shit it didn't work type in the password.)
Received my phone a few hours ago. Opened the package and the phone was clearly a used phone. Box was torn and dirty and factory screen protection film was sloppy. Called and CS said they will send me a new phone with full price credit card hold or I can send it back for them to inspect the "defective device" as they called it. I cancelled and just dropped the phone off at the post office for a refund.
USB C ports are known to get lint and crud built up in there and the plug doesn't click like it used to.
You may want to try cleaning it out. I've used sewing needles to dig the stuff out, a toothpick may be safer but I've had no issues with the needles.
It's amazing how much fuzz gets in there.
I found the same issue recently with my old Moto X4! Once the lint was cleaned out, I now get a good firm connection for charging. Too bad Cricket is dropping support the X4 this coming February. For some silly reason, everyone but Apple thinks all buyers only want phablets instead of phones!!! Ugh...
