Was about to bite but I believe that these older XT2s come with a Sync Module that doesn't support USB storage. This means you need a Blink subscription to view and store recorded videos…

I'm too much of cheap basterd to pay monthly fees unfortunately so these cams are no go for me. Shame, as they seem very decent for the price…

XT,XT2 and Indoor gen 1 have 7200s of cloud storage irrespective of when you bought it. The subscription only applies to other blink devices. Credit to justwanna.

"not so fast, hotshot
You want into this party, your name better be on the list. And we don't see your name on the list. Sorry. What is that? A $20 bill? Are you trying to bribe me, sir? What kind of doorman do you think I am?

If you think you're seeing this message by mistake, write us and we'll try to help. Now, step aside, please. The real guests need to get through." I have prime for over 5 years and when i try to sign in to woot with amazon im seeing this what does it mean? Can anyone having same problem?

Just FYI, these do have micro USB ports, and can be hard wire powered. I took the time to do that to all my cams under the eaves around the house. So nice not having to worry about batteries anymore. You can still install the batteries too, which will provide backup power. Lithium batteries have long shelf life, low self discharge, and great temperature tolerances, so you shouldn't have to worry about them for years if you don't have many power outages.

So with that, and having a UPS on your WiFi router, modem, and sync modules can provide a pretty reliable security setup. Since the sync modules are USB powered, you can daisy chain a USB power bank in lieu of a UPS.

I bought two XT2 cameras a few years back and added a mini camera last year. I've never had a subscription fee with the three cameras using cloud storage.
That is correct because you have a grandfathered account created before the April 15, 2020 cutoff. This gives you free cloud storage for all models. New accounts will have free cloud storage for XT/XT2 cameras because that is a feature of those models, but not Minis or other models (these will require a subscription).

The free cloud storage is for grandfathered accounts, does not matter what camera you add to your system. You can add the new blink doorbell and still have free storage if your account is grandfathered. Per the q&a on the blink doorbell page

"Accounts that were created on or before April 15, 2020, continue to have the original 7200 seconds (2 hours) of cloud storage per Sync Module."

Buying these used cameras will not get you free storage if you don't have a grandfathered account, and if your account is grandfathered you can buy any new blink product and not have to pay subscription fee.

No you won't. Have to have a grandfathered account.

This is not accurate as to these cameras. I have explained this multiple times, and it is also in the description in Woot. For XT/XT2, the 7200 seconds of free cloud storage for life is a feature/benefit of the cameras, not your account. It does not matter when you created an account for XT/XT2--they include free cloud storage up to 7200 seconds period. For the newer cameras and doorbell, yes your ability to have free cloud storage for it is tied to your account and the fact that it is grandfathered. On a new account, models other than XT/XT2 will require a subscription but XT/XT2 will not no matter what. That is what makes the latter appealing. I have multiple XT2 cameras on a new account, so I am 100% certain about this. This is all spelled out by Blink, too: https://support.blinkforhome.com/...ge-options (e.g. "Clips from legacy cameras, the XT2, XT, and Indoor (gen 1), are not stored on your USB drive. These cameras do not require a subscription plan and continue to use their original 7200 seconds of basic cloud storage for the life of the device.").

Got it! Got the 3 pack. I've been using the XT system for 2 years. Scared to get the new version because I heard it requires a subscriptions. The only bummer is batteries.

Same here bought an XT2 system super cheap several Black Fridays ago from Amazon, never got around to opening and installing yet- I figure we are S- out of luck.
You should be fine. Blink's website says the XT and XT2 receive "Free cloud storage (no matter purchase date)"=YES

https://support.blinkforhome.com/...age-policy

As of right now you still get free cloud storage for XT2 under any and all purchases dates and circumstances.

They do have a micro usb port so you can plug them in. Of course you need an outlet nearby and you have to be concerned about weather-protecting the adapter and compromising the weatherproofing on the camera... but it is a possibility.

I bought the 1 camera add on in used acceptable condition, already got it this morning via USPS. I opened it up and the camera looks brand new, protective stickers applied still and all.

The new version 'outdoor' requires a subscription for cloud storage. But the new version also comes with sync module 2 which allows local USB storage. Not as slick as the cloud but it works with no sub.

I used silicone waterproof, non shrinking bathroom caulk around the ports to prevent water intrusion. Been over a year and the cams have been working flawlessly. If you have outlets in the attic (say for an HVAC system) or attic lights and comfortable tapping off those lines, you may be able to do a clean install drilling a small hole through the eaves.
