I'd still rather continue paying $40 for Fios 300 over Xfinity 600 @ $20.

Perhaps you should change a MODEM, rather than a router?

Please be aware - these xfinity comcast speeds are not guaranteed, read the fine print, after paying for gigabit speeds for 2 yrs realized it never came even close, we were getting only 250 mbps I tried different routers.
Also if you have many in the neighborhood on Xfinity, it slows you down.
Lastly, when we went past 1 TB we got an additional bill saying we used too much, this happened for two months and I switched.

Although their Customer Service is much better than ATT

What are you talking about? We have 6 lines sharing 10gb and monthly bill is $77 after tax.
How's that broken out? The website says $60 for the 10GB.. are you then only paying $2-3/line after that?

Sorry, I'm paying$10 per month for a phone that's on device installment. It should be about $60plus about $1 of tax per line.

These posts would have been posted separately on their own by the poster. The mods see that there is an existing thread for the same topic and merge the post to that.
Ahhh, gotcha. Thanks for the explanation!

Do you guys think I can get the same deal in store?
Signing up through the website wants a $50 "prepayment" and I've selected the $50 - $30 = $20/mo. package. Doesn't seem right.

Is Xfinity only a cell service?
I would love to find a new company for my internet service. we have always had cox cable we only get internet from Cox, and pay $200 a month. Witch I think it's a bit high. Cox is the only company I know out in Tucson but I thought maybe there is something out there I haven't heard of...any advice is much appreciated. Thank you in advance

the trick is to simply cancel your service and sign up in using a different name. Been doing it every year to take advantage of the promos

Does comcast still have that archaic money-gouging 1TB per month limit?

Quote from SiennaDeer8270 :
Why are you using so much data? People who use this for regular purposes dont worry about the cap. If you have excessive users or use alot of data, you should pay a penalty. You slow down the network for all of us. I wish they'd double or triple the cap penalty. I dont necessarily want you to get fined. I just want to disincentivize you from slowing down the network. The only way most people change behavior is monetarily. Would be happy if this causes you to switch providers to go slow down their network instead.
Have you considered other peoples scenarios that might not be your own? What I'm trying to say is that assuming some one is abusing a service they are paying for might be a little bit thinking inside the box and assuming everyone is the same as you might be too short sighted.

Anyone with a family of 4 members or more can eat through Comcast's cap easily. Netflix, Hulu, Youtube, Twitch, Instagram, Spotify, TikTok Xbox/Playstation/Nintentod/PC game updates that are huge in size, people working from home connected all the time to their VPN plus Zoom/Team/Webex Video calls, PC/MAC OS updates, Android/iOS updates, and I can keep going. Not to mention that some people working from home due to the current situation might be dealing with huge file sizes that need to be backed up to a remote server daily.

For someone single that only checks emails or watches blocky low res videos then sure, hitting that limit might seem like impossible, but that doesn't mean that there are other people with legit needs of high amount of data. Definitely wont call that abuse.

And guess what, comcast will gladly let them "abuse their network" if they shell out the extra money, and guess what you will still be affected because the user will still be eating up that chunk of bandwidth and Comcast will do 0 about increasing the network capacity to prevent that affecting you.

I would agree with you a little bit more if there was more competition out there that would force Comcast to improve their network and increase the capacity, but in reality most places Comcast has a monopoly. Hopefully they start feeling the pressure with people jumping to 5G Home Internet services, and the satellite options that are coming out.

I recall when T-Mobile started imposing Caps, they were like 10 Gigs or 15Gigs max, and they said they will evaluate every now and then the average usage and increase that cap. They are already at 50Gigs from their original estimate. Comcast is a business and I understand they are trying to make money, but I think charging people for exceeding the Cap is really abusive. They could follow what the Wireless industry does, slow your speeds down once you pass the Cap. Customer will be happy they didn't get hit by a Fee and also allows them to decide if they can afford paying extra to get the high speeds back.
