Says it requires an existing working doorbell.
Free installation won't include transformer replacement (if needed), that's a separate service which is 49.99 installed. This one requires that you have an existing doorbell wired in your home. Doorbell will ring your indoor chime but it can be disabled via nest app if you prefer to just use app and/or smart speakers to announce. Really nice if you have more than 1 doorbell as it announces which doorbell is "ringing". Can also set quiet times for kids naptime or if you're doing video meetings.

The Nest subscription is $60 or $120 if paid annually, both of which include all nest cameras not per cam. $60 includes 30 day event history, familiar faces and zones to prevent alerts. $120 adds another 30 day history and 10 days of 24/7 history. Without subscription you can look back 3 hours only.

The OnTech + membership is good for a year and doesn't auto renew. It includes 10% off products and 10-20% off installation. Return window is increased to 60 days. The OnTech Smart Support app gives you unlimited tech support via call (US based) or chat and through handy how-to guides.

Hope this helps
So I actually opted out of the free installation as it looked to be a month out in my area and It should be simple. It also said if you do need a transformer for it to work with your existing chime that they would charge $65 for that (which might be worth it to others, but not me). I also didn't add the google mini so that I could use code "dish10" to get an extra $13.50 off the price of the doorbell. I have 2 unused mini's at the moment anyway.

The image on this is quite good, as is the nightvision. It works unlike the piece of crap SkyBell it replaced. Even better, if you pop out the video window on the Nest portal, it prevents the Windows 10 lockscreen timeout.. for those who may be working from home wink wink.

Placed an order yesterday and OnTech (Dish Network) installed it today!

Did you need to pay anything extra for the transformer?

Had mine installed yesterday. My existing transformer was underpowered, but he wanted $49 for a new transformer. I declined the new transformer and will do it myself, but had him hook everything else up. Everything seems to be working fine on the underpowered transformer though.

Installer was great except for trying to upsell me on everything little thing. He tried to sell me a new Yale lock, a Nest outdoor camera, a Google Nest Hub (already have one), and then a Google Nest Hub Max.

What will the technician do if he needs to install the transformer diode? Will he look for it or simply say he can't do it?

Same here. They tired to upsell me on a camera for my garage.

Just had it installed today. Tech from OnTech (dish) was very helpful. My existing transformer was 10V which is too low so had to get a new transformer, which cost $50 installed. I think cost is fine given that I don't have to mess with wires and install myself.

I had this installed today. The DishTV/OnTech technician did the installation (no need of any transformer at my place) and helped with Nest app setup. Overall, good experience and value.

I want one, but the wood door jamb that my current doorbell is installed on is too narrow; even when the current one has broken, I can only replace it with a small button doorbell (and even then I have to crimp the edges to narrow it. The adjacent wall is brick. Will they do an install on the brick wall if there isn't an opening there already?

Install it yourself. Very easy. Just need proper size bit. Put the fasteners in the mortar joints, not the bricks. You will need a masonry bit. Took 5 minutes.

I'm building a new house set to complete Dec 16th. Does the equipment come shipped, or does the tech bring it with them?

I cannot have it shipped or brought there until Dec 16.

We are moving to new house by end of this month. The house is at safe neighborhood. When someone at door, we should be able to see and talk to them. When no wifi during power outages, still need to work and store some footage. I tinkered Raspberry pi with motion eye as fun project for recording stuff but wanted a commercial product for door bell video, so I can still record in pi. For now, We probably good with local storage or only need the video when someone at front steps. I was suggested to get the package to build on door bell, security system with the same brand if possible to eliminate multiple devices.

I looked around internet, seems like Arlo, Eufy, Ring, Nest are best bets.

After looking at this deal yesterday, almost ordered, then I saw Eufy deal on Costco, for $234, I get the door bell, smart lock and local base station for recording. Looking at youtube, I couldnt finalize the one. Here seems to be a lot of Nest users.

Apart from free mini and installation, since its only a door bell installation, what kind of service is provided? On Tech site states free installation, tailor the need, but seems simple on Nest door bell. is there anything that I am missing? I have to make a decision and I am not decided.

Eufy - has the best camera among all, economical, local storage and battery operated bell (thats the only big reason right now to lean towards it)
Nest - cant go wrong with google but still need to find what makes this better
Arlo - seems like a better overall, but our house is small and just door bell and another backyard cam will be morethan sufficient.
Ring - seems a good deal if we just need door bell.
Wyze- surprisingly this is simple, cost effective but doesnt allow local storage, continuous monitoring as above. Only reason to strip this out.
