Reach out to your local public library. We started with them to get our feet wet. Our library loans a high end one with a 6 inch diameter
I would spend just a bit more for a celestron like this one and use your phone to gps your location and the app tells you where to pin point your sky object. https://www.adorama.com/cnsselt11...dl-gbase-p
That's more than just a little bit. It's more than twice the cost!

Taking pictures while it's adapted to the eyepiece is VERY hard to get it perfectly straight to get a descent picture of a anything, especially that whatever is that you're seeing won't be aligned too long because of the Earth's continous rotation

At this price a scope of like this would be okay. Just read some reviews and manage your expectations. No beginner telescope in this range is going to impress.

True...it's good for starters..I have 3 so each one was an upgrade lol

What about if you use the astrophotography mode on your phone?

Still not good enough. Youd need a telescope that has tracking or a mount that can adapt to the part where the eyepiece goes and do a very fast shutter speed...but now not letting enough light to Capture a good picture. Only the moon would be the best object to take pics
We bought this a few years ago, and I'd definitely say this style is probably one of the easiest to use. I dropped it and messed up the focus knob and basically bricked the entire thing. We bought another style that was three times the price; however, we wished we'd just bought this one again as it was easier to use.

For kids?
This is incredible. Most of the cheap "kids" telescopes are junk.
Celestron is one of the best in the telescope field, and I've never seen a truly bad product from them.
For adults? Don't expect to count all the craters in the moon, but for an adult wanting to experiment with the hobby you can't go wrong with this. Buy and you may find your love for our hobby… don't like it and you're just out $80.
Just a warning.. if you fall in LOVE, telescopes get EXPENSIVE lol.
Guessing Walmart is targeting Christmas Gifts on this one.. i may need to snag a few for my siblings so they finally have some interest in my astrophotos 😂

There is always more to a telescope than the zoom. If you want to start with a basic telescope, you need to learn the basics of it. Then based on your needs/location you can choose the appropriate telescope.
