Well if you say that, then might as well say that g routers are probably fine for most people. What's the point of having AC speed with ethernet from 20 years ago? This is advertising ac1200 which means concurrent 267 and 800 speed. What's the point of having that if your input WAN ethernet speed already chops the speed to 100? 10/100 ethernet should be outlawed in AC devices.

Of course ac routers are better than g, duh. That's not the point. If your argument is that 10/100 is probably fine for most people, then chances are those people wouldn't even notice g speeds. If you are going to build ac hardware why limit it to 100 speed? That's like putting a speed limiter on a Porsche at 65 mph.
I didn't buy these because of the non gigabit ports. These may be useful to extend the mesh but not the main router.

This will go front page and make a lot of people perfectly happy. Such a stupid product I suppose.
People may initially be happy thinking they got a deal, but it immediately caps your speed at half my ISP's lowest tier.

I suppose this could be useful to extend an existing Deco mesh, but anybody using this as their primary setup will be sorely disappointed.

Most people with fiber or cable internet have better than 100mb/second these days anyway, which means they'd be just throwing away bandwidth with these.

Power users with smart homes shouldn't be shopping $53 mesh systems. My parents, who live in a 2000 sqft ranch with an extended patio area in the back and less than 10 devices and 20mbs service are the perfect use case.

For me 100Mbps WAN/LAN ports would have been fine. But someone on the Amazon mentioned that there's no features such as MAC cloning (a must for Comcast), port forwarding (used for old security cameras w/o cloud support), and switching WiFi channels.

This is a major downer for me, and I think it would be for many others as well.

Fair enough. Sometimes I forget how horrible internet service is in much of this country. Spectrum's entry level service is 200 Mbps.

Your parents do sound like a good use case for this product at this price. But the decision to pair AC1200 with 10/100 is still bewildering.

So what's your point? They should have called this a G Mesh system?
My point is that it is pretty much misadvertising since you are buying an AC1200 system but you are really getting the equivalence of ac200 (I know there is not such a thing).

In your parent's case, this should be fine, but that is certainly not "95% of the buyers" as you originally put. They are going to look at the ac1200 speed and think that's fast for them but do not realize that you are not even getting 20% of that.

If you use these to mesh with a modern 10/100/1000 router, they can repeat that wireless signal at AC speeds for better coverage, but that's limited case where they are useful. These don't look like they were intended as a main router and probably shouldn't be used as such.

Old tech. $53 is a deal for a basic setup. Not everybody has 1TB fiber.
