Did this have a free tool promo last year so that you ended up with 7 tools?

Isn't this Ryobi? Can you direct me to the deal you're talking about?

This is a better deal. It was posted previously. All HP Ryobi Brushless 6 tools.

$319.68 (W/hack) RYOBI ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless Combo Kit (6-Tool) with (2) 1.5 Ah Batteries, Charger, and Bag

Definitely a good deal but I don't know about better. For the average homeowner who mostly won't get into major projects, I think the posted deal is better. Why not save $120 if there is absolutely no need to pay for something that doesn't fit the usage requirement.

For comparison, last year's best ryobi deal was $209 for the 5-tool brushless set. No multi-tool, but the circular saw was 7 1/4 in.

Thanks OP. I went online to find this set and found another set that appears to be the same set + the sprayer for the same price.

Honestly, as one with far too many tools, I will have to disagree. Yes, the quality of the tools you linked are better, more power, etc... But for most users, it's either overkill, or they will have no use for the tools (or worse, knowledge of proper use).

For an entry level set, this one is perfect. Use and learn what you will use and need on a cheap, entry level set. When you find you need more power for certain tools and tasks, you can then justify paying more and buying bigger.

Not to mention, most basic homeowners would have no use for the right angle drill, cutoff tool or impact wrench.

I had all those tools and gave them to my daughter and son in law. The quality is not there for everyday use. The brushed tools are not worth $200 bucks. The kit I recommend are all New Brushless HP from Ryobi. Your not going to get top of the line Brushless power tool set for $319 bucks anywhere. People do work on thier vehicle, and fo small renovations. Brushed tools will not last.

You are right. After comparing both sets, they have the same exact items, except on has the extra sprayer. Good find. Maybe the deal should be updated to this one instead.

For what reason? A homeowner doesn't NEED brushless. We had cordless tools for decades before brushless and even contractors/pros didn't have the option. Now that we have an option, suddenly the thing that worked for decades is no longer a good buy because... good marketing?

But that is why these are here, different target audiences. Most homeowners I know don't touch their tools too often. I use mine frequently. Most of mine are brushless and higher end at this point. BUT... I started with a cheap set like this, and it worked until I learned I could justify paying more. Not to mention, for me at that time, money was very tight, so I was thankful for what I could afford.

I'm certainly not dragging down the deal you posted, it's a pretty damn good one. A great deal for users like you and I who use tools to the point of needing something more (or those that know they need more), and handing off our old sets. I did exactly the same with my lower end Ryobi starters.

Sadly most people don't work on their own cars. I'm trying to teach my kids the value of doing so.

Is this it leading up to BF deals (if you can even call it that) ?

Any words or leaks on free tool or free batts? The only good thing combo wise was the compact brushless drill/impact kit for $93 with the batt return. I figure they would keep that running through end of Xmas.

I bought this because it was the "just need it to get by" sort of scenario. Great set for $200 compared to others. I've looked into the Milwaukie and Makita set and they don't offer much for the same price. Of course both Milwaukie and Makita are better compared to Ryobi, but better in quality also more expensive. I bought this set because it offered the most versatile for my light duties at home. So if you are just an average joe but like to fix or DIY occasionally, this set is all you need.

Funny enough I was complaining about the cheap LED light they threw in as a "freebie" to my gf. I wanted the orbital sander version they also have on the website as a package, but I couldn't wait 1-2 weeks for as I was renovation a room. That LED light actually came in handy when I needed a light source that didn't require an extra hand to hold. I ate my words that day hahaha.
