Then you have tone mapping which is used to downscale to todays displays.
Since there is no set standard on it your players capabilities plays an important role.
Then you have the quality of the display which displays the content it's given.
As I mentioned in used Apple 4K for Disney+ vs a Panasonic 820 player onto a OLED display.
If your saying the the digital download on iTunes is that much better than the any app.
The only download on iTunes I have is Star Trek Into Darkness which also has DV.
I compared it to my Panasonic 420 onto a OLED display.
The disc was still a better PQ, the AQ forget it no contest!!!
I had and sold about 609 Blu-ray's for 1 reason….storage.
Screw that. Went all digital and free'd myself of the clutter.
