So I can just pay off installment plan after getting gift card with no penalty?
Yes, once installment is paid off then you are not tethered to either company. I have Verizon and I know it takes 60 days for the phone to automatically unlock. I don't know about AT&T.
This is a good but not great deal. You could switch this week to att/verizon and get those switching promos then buy all new phones next week. Thats what Ill be doing!

Do they require you to be on AT&T or Verizon unlimited plans? I don't have unlimited so this may be better for me. I can save $60 a month by not having unlimited and that more than pays for the difference in price of phone promos. I don't use unlimited, but of course many do and the switching or trade-in deals are probably better for unlimited users.
Can some more people that previously bought this ONLINE please share how long it took to get the gift card? Also any reports of the gift card getting clawed back if you cancel the line immediately after getting the gift card?

I was active in last year's promo thread. I remember people were getting the eGC within a few days to a few weeks of activation. I remember some people did try to pay off the phones and canceled the lines after 3 days, but I'm not sure how the eGC worked for them.
Last two years it was $450 GC for the previous year's phone. The deal they had last week was better as it was $450 off instead of a GC for the 12 mini.
This time, they are doing current gen phones which is great. Can't read the info on trade in, but I'm sure this is only good in store.
They require installment plans, and the MSRP is about $50 higher so keep that in mind. That said, on the 2019 BF deal, Verizon didn't start charging me the installment plan until May 2020. On the 2020 BF deal, Verizon still hasn't started to charge me an installment plan. Both times, They send you a SIM card to activate the new phone, but I could not activate them both times - ended up using the SIM card from the previous phone. Extremely YMMV...
GC first year took 14 weeks to arrive. GC second year took 2 days.
Walmart MSRP is $50 higher? Looks lots higher to me. On base iPhone 12 I see it on Walmart site for $879 for Verizon.
Apple site has same one $599 unlocked.
Hoping Apple refurbished appear soon for iPhone 11 or 12 base or 128gb models. Not sure Walmart deal is worth the high postpaid prices and taxes for a few months even after the GC?

I think you got the wrong model. Walmart Verizon iPhone 12 is only 679. It's going for 22.64 for 30 months.
And Apple is selling the 12 models for 100 cheaper than last year, so it would be $699 for the regular 12 and not $599. I believe it's the 12 mini that's $599 and not the regular 12.
I do think Walmart runs 50 over MSRP for Verizon, so on deal day, regular 12 will be 749. I'm not sure where you are finding regular 12 for 879. Even regular 13 is only 749.

I might be confused….
When looking at Verizon phones on Walmart site they hide the full price and just show the monthly fee. Then I tap through to payment options, it shows the Verizon iPhone 12 gb as $879 here: https://www.walmart.com/ip/Verizo.../768996075
Maybe prepaid or other sellers/carriers are cheaper?

Seems the Verizon and AT&T currently at about the same. Yeah perhaps the prepaids are cheaper. We'll see how this looks on the 22nd because it will change.
They ran a similar deal like this last year. I jumped on for an iPhone 11 to gift to my brother. They did jack the price up (I don't remember by how much). Wasn't worthwhile for the iPhone 12 Pro as the higher price + upgrade fee (its slightly Higher than direct from Verizon) which ate up nearly 1/3 the gc
I'll be watching this closely if and bite if the price doesn't jump up

It was $50 more for the base 11 plus the tax on it. GC was $450 though. And like I said earlier, they screwed up again the payment plan as I haven't got hit with it. The previous year (Xr deal) they took them until May to realize the problem and sent a letter.
