As someone who has a pixel 6 Pro, I highly recommend just getting the 6. It's so much cheaper and the Pro has no features that are worth the pricetag over the non pro. If I could do it again, I'd get the pixel 6.

The phone is big on the hands and quite heavy. Be warned. You'll end up missing smaller phone size of 5.7to 6.2 inch screens

Nova launcher is immensely customizable, and I can't recommend it enough. You can move the stock Pixel launcher elements wherever you want, among MANY other options.

Is the fingerprint scan as bad as they say? Any chance of bug fix, or does the optical nature defeat it?
Tempered Glass screen protectors do not work with the Pixel 6 fingerprint reader. I had to take mine off and buy an Armorsuit brand TPU screen protector. It has worked flawless since.

Not the fastest fingerprint reader, but I can wait an extra 1/2 second to unlock. Supposedly, the speed is due to the extra security.

Great phone otherwise. Great camera. Battery down to 70-75% after a full work day. 45-50% on the weekends with heavy usage. Happy with my Pixel 6.

The U.S. models are identical in cellular capability. The International variants are missing mmWave support, which might be irrelevant in the short term but important later for domestic coverage in densely populated locations.
Quote from MrC. :
Anyone have this on AT&T? Any issues with 5G, and do all bands work with AT&T?
The unlocked version of the Pixel 6 which has a MSRP of $599 does not support mmWave which is known on Verizon as Ultra Wideband and on AT&T as 5G Ultra Capacity. Those version of the Pixel 6 that comes with mmWave has a MSRP of $729 and is listed as Model ID G9S9B. This deal is for the the unlocked Pixel 6, Model ID GB7N6. You can read more about that here: https://support.google.com/pixelp...r/10082009

It is worth noting that the unlocked US version of the Pixel 6 Pro does not have this limitation.

It always take some time getting used to a bigger size. But once you get used to it, there is no going back to smaller*. YMMV of course.

*That's what she said.
Meh, I disagree. I still think my pixel 3 was the perfect size after having the s20/21 for over a year.

I had the same complaints. I reverted back to 11 but I was lucky because I had just got the phone and decided to upgrade immediately. But I was a lot happier with the 11 interface
How did you downgrade to Android 11? I upgraded to 12 1 month ago and I don't like it. Am I too late?

Why would Google sell a less capable/compatible variant at their online store domestically. If what you are saying is true, complete idiocy on their part imo. If both models are listed in the spec sheet on the store page, how do you know which one is being purchased? Is the Verizon option during the checkout the only one mmWave capable or both Verizon and GoogleFi?

I see the clarification chart, total nonsense. Thanks for the details.

I disagree too. I got me pixel 4a and while I love it more than the iPhone, I can't help but miss the small form factor that make it easier for me to bring and store it away. It's pocket friendly. So I went back to iPhone SE 2016 and I am happy just as a basic necessity. Now when it comes to browsing or purchases, Pixel 4a in Android 11 hand down.

I was leaning towards the 5a but I'd go to the 6 for $549.

5a: well established cpu, no wireless charging, 3.5mm headphone jack, rear fingerprint reader that seems well regarded
6: Newer cpu (but based on samsung Exynos), much faster cpu/gpu, no 3.5MM fingerprint jack, wireless charging, 'under screen' fingerprint reader that many complain about

6 has 2 more years of security updates promised, but let's face it...the battery isn't going to still be that great after 3-4 years.

For $200 price difference, and no serious need for that kind of cpu/gpu horsepower, I leaned 5a. For $150? Tough call. The 6 is a lot of phone for $549.

The pro has mmwave. Some carrier versions of the 6 may have it as well. The regular unlocked 6 doesn't have mmwave. Not a smart move, IMO. But that's why the 6 is $549 and not $900?

Processor is actually made my Samsung.... But designed by Google. 😊
Its the exynos high end chip from samsung with some possible clock speed changes and a few custom bits. I'd actually leave it for a bit if google was making a brand new SoC.

Like with their Titan security keys, there wasn't really very much 'custom' about it.

Pros? The 6 is a whole new beast, first processor made by google and finally new camera module. It will take amazing photos and videos.

Cons? Cost more?

Seriously though if anyone was ever in the market for a Pixel this is the one to get hands down. Ill be upgrading even though my 3A is running like new 3 years later.
Had a 3a, which was also working well, and upgraded to the 6Pro. No regrets.

A word of caution for those new to pixels. I upgraded from a Moto G7 to a 5a recently. The pixel has a search bar on the home screen that cannot be removed without workarounds. Also the Android 12 UI is pretty different and I was happier with 11 so I reverted. But that was also not simple. In summary, I'm happy with the hardware so far but I think Motorola did a better job with the UI than Google for some weird reason. I don't think I would have gone to pixel if not for the camera so it's a tradeoff
I guess the UI it's a preference and familiarity. I prefer android 12 than 11.

Still a meehhh deal. Once I hear 50% off plus upgraded trade in values, that'd be the time for me to get this sucker.
any guesses on when this usually happens?

i went from a galaxy S9+ to a galaxy s20 FE and other than the newness of it all, i feel like it took a few steps back and really do not like the phone

wondering if it's worth trying the pixel
