As someone who has a pixel 6 Pro, I highly recommend just getting the 6. It's so much cheaper and the Pro has no features that are worth the pricetag over the non pro. If I could do it again, I'd get the pixel 6.

The phone is big on the hands and quite heavy. Be warned. You'll end up missing smaller phone size of 5.7to 6.2 inch screens

Nova launcher is immensely customizable, and I can't recommend it enough. You can move the stock Pixel launcher elements wherever you want, among MANY other options.

I came from a Samsung A71 5G and it's miles ahead of that on screen sensor. However, it is finicky at times and slow to register. 9 out of 10 times it opens quickly and without issue.
come on.. you really can't say it's "miles" ahead and then also say it's finicky. That would mean your A71 probably unlocks once a week or something which I'm sure is not the case Smilie

So, the Pixel 5a for $399, or the Pixel 6 for $549? Pros and cons anyone?
Pretty sure the 6 is a much more capable device than the 5 (the a series are usually the lower end spec). 6 has the new camera hardware, new processor, higher RAM capacity, faster storage, etc. So if you can swing 150 extra, I would go with the 6.

You haven't used either of them I take it? The pixel 6 is definitely miles ahead of the A71 and also finicky at the same time. Every review out there says the same thing about the pixel sensor.

I've read about and seen the issue being talked about in many places, and I do believe it. I was just commenting on the way you described it. Are you able to tell if it is same or better than the Note 10+ or S20's ultrasonic sensor? To me, even those were annoying to get working all the time compared to the capacitive sensors that almost always works flawlessly. And since optical sensor in the pixel is said to be slower than ultrasonic types, I'm guessing it's not better than the Note10+/S20.

Android 12 makes simple tasks an absolute chore. Simply toggling wifi requires additional button pressing, clearing apps require you to swipe them one by one, unlocking phone with 4 digit pass requires you to press enter. Also on screen fingerprint scanner is trash. Don't even think about putting a screen protector, it'll render it useless
I've heard about the issues with the fingerprint reader - but we haven't had an issue with it. I put a glass protector on and it works just fine, even without changing the sensitivity.

I am using S10. Size is little broad and tall on P6. I like the one hand operation on S10 so far.

I replaced screen with Samsung and they reset the phone after that. Phone now runs a lot better. Not sure I would update to a P6 immediately. The SD card and 3.5mm jack and good condition phone are my setback.
May be if i have to upgrade, the next one would be a Pixel 6 or later as Samy not giving any more sd card slots and all phone companies ditched the 3.5mm anyways.
Thanks, I have an unlock S10 on Tmobile network. Not sure if the phone or Tmobile, I dont get very good sign outside of the city. I'm hoping upgrade to 5G phone would help

I've never used the sensor in the Note 10 or S21 so I can't say. The sensor in the A71 is optical and it was terrible though.

Like I said previously, the Pixel sensor isn't terrible and works 9 out 10 times fairly quickly. Today, I've had it act weird 3 times out of probably 40+ unlocks.

I was on Tmobile, changed to Visible yesterday. It has decent coverage until i hit parking lot or inside my building. Terrible when we lose power, we cant get phone calls nor data during that time. Switched visible for $5 to try it out.

iphone cant take a decent pic.
my pixel phones i always have the best pics every single day i have bragging rights every single day coz i take such killer pics and i do take alot of pics
this phone the camera is super charged one big problem with phones is u cant zoom this can achieve optical zoom of 9x with AI. iphone 13 pro is only 3x
Optical zoom is as the name suggest Optical, There is no AI enhancement to a physical thing. Pixel and iPhone both have digital zoom, Pixel might have a better algorithm that is using "AI", but it's all digital.

The Pixel 6 doesn't have any Optical zoom. The 6 Pro has x4.

Dude, the edges are curved on pixel 2xl.
Ookk...[me bringing the pixel 2xl closer to the eyes...been looking at it past 4.5 years and didn't think it's a curved screen]
Alright alright...the edge is curved a bit but not the display screen itself...on the 6 pro you will see the text curved if it's close to the edge...

Fact. Now again the issue with edge tempered glass smh. Really off putting me from buying. I dont know what to do. Should I go for the pixel 6 or pixel 6 pro. I bet you that 7 will be flat. I don't upgrade my phone every year. I keep them for 3-4 years.

a major con is how heavy and big this phone is for being "only" 6.4". fingerprint reader also appears to be slow per reviews
Fingerprint scanner on mine is not slow. But I do admit I'd prefer it on the back. Just used to it being back there. I really don't notice the size/weight being big or heavy.

i went to the store and tested against samsung ultra which has 10x zoom. its easy to test just use text at a distance and u know it right away. so the ai increases the zoom by just over 2x
the ai has improved previously although google claimed it was 2x it was actually 1.9x.
i do run test on everything to verify

but at the same time the video cant use the high res zoom ai and stays purely at 4x

another thing the p4xl which has 1.5x tele has better zoom then ip13pros 3x. the difference is very slight however but show that the high res zoom ai over 2x

also the non pro p6 has worse zoom then p4xl by a large margin. so i am not even interested in the p6 non pro.

i always run comprehensive tests just to make sure what i am buying

be my guest and do the test urself at the bestbuy they have all the phones on display. the carriers have not updated their cameras

and i also rounded off to 9x but it is as high as 8.8x and as low as 8.5x
