Have a high end Samsung fridge. The ice maker needs to be defrosted every two weeks. Stupid to put the icemaker in the refrigerator compartment. It's been a bust. Good price but consider yourself warned.
We have had our Samsung fridge for almost 5 years now and have had multiple issues.
- the defrost drain froze up resulting in a puddle of water that develops at the floor of the refrigerator section.
- the left hand corner of the refrigerator (not the freezer) gets so cold that it freezes anything in that part.
- the freezer part develops ice on the walls and floor which eventually causes issues when closing and opening the freezer drawer.
- the ice that builds up in the freezer starts to melt once it reaches a certain size and we've come home to a huge puddle of water on multiple occasions
- the rubber gasket part of the freezer is having issues staying "puffed" up so when I close the freezer drawer, sometimes there is a gap that leads to warm air getting in.
There is a Facebook group dedicated to helping consumers with issues regarding Samsung refrigerators. I've had 2. The first one was in the house when I bought it. The condenser fan went bad and, even after repairing it, I had to keep a box fan behind it to keep the fridge cold. When i replaced my appliances, I purchased a Samsung refrigerator like this one and it had issues with the evaporator fan breaking because the coils in the back freeze over because it doesn't always defrost properly. Once the fan hits the ice the motor fails and the fridge goes warm. Lots of people are having issues with the inside keeping the appropriate temperature, causing the fridge to be in the danger zone for temps that will breed bacteria and cause food poisoning.
Samsung customer service is inconsistent, some have received refunds while others haven't. Some have received reimbursement for food while others haven't. Ones who have purchased refrigerators with ice makers in the door have ended up with 3+ Ice maker replacements and having to file insurance claims to repair damaged flooring, subfloors, walls, mold remediation and Samsung fights to take responsibility.
Seems like a good deal until you realize you might get 3 years out of it before forking over $500+ in repairs, $250+ In food replacement, and worse.
Samsung refrigerator I have needs to be opened every few months because the ice blocks the fan from moving causing the refrigerator and the freezer from working. Samsung refrigerator sucks!!!
very skeptic about Samsung Refrigerators. have had two bad experiences. check reviews and warranty coverage before jumping in.
Can confirm. Had ice maker go out and leaking fridge on previous version of this fridge. Both common issues with Samsung fridges (feel free to google). Thankfully had 5 year warranty. Now out of warranty and fridge still leaks after four or so repairs.
