Considering the 8 was $250 last week, I hardly consider the buds "free" at $200 more.

It's gonna be a tough choice, my current daily is a 8T with gcam, I had the Pixel 6 at launch and the fact you can't use a screen protector and use the fingerprint sensor is a deal breaker for me as I can't live with scratches or cracks. Switching from so many phones I'd say the only thing I miss about Z Fold 3 and Pixel 6 is wireless charging. The camera is pretty great with Gcam so don't let people tell you it's trash.

This isn't the OP 8, it's the 8T and the camera does not suck. Check YouTube camera reviews though, don't go off comments from a rando. (edit - I include myself as a rando)

quick question (may be a dumb one), is 8t with gcam a different phone than the one in this post?
No, it's the same phone. This is a reference to installing the Pixel's camera app, which I haven't done. Google pulled this up fwiw - Google Camera for the OnePlus 8T | xda-developers.com [xda-developers.com]

I've had an unlocked 8T for a year and I'm still very happy with it. I'm a Nexus/Pixel guy but switched when Pixel 5 didn't impress and the 6 Pro doesn't look compelling to me. I did return the T-Mobile version since they tampered with the rom too much imo. They broke features and interfered with updates.

Lots of people seem to be comparing this with $250 OnePlus 8 deal, but that was T-mobile only and this says unlocked. Seems like this is a lot more flexible.

Been with several California carriers this year and Oneplus does not work with Cricket any more. Many restrictions on 5G access across all carriers as well. If you're a frequent carrier hopper, I would advise you to stay away from Oneplus.

I'm still going to try to pick one up just for work if I can trade in an iphone SE2
Using cricket on a OnePlus Nord N10 now the 8. I did have issues a few months ago with them. Told me it maybe the phone, told them it's not a issue with the phone. Told them fix it or I'll just change carriers. It was working again and has been. Not saying it won't be dropped in the future.

I'm at just under $400 before taxes, this is with the edu discount and the $30 voucher.

It should go even lower once this promotion starts and maybe even lower on black Friday.

The TMobile version of the 8 sold by oneplus unlocks out of the box. Turned mine on, put cricket sim in and it gave me the option to unlock in the system settings. Guess TMobile got tired of being bothered with it and added the feature to certain batch of phones.

I unlocked t-mobile version using below steps😀

1. Turned the phone on without sim
1.5 Turn on wifi and connect
2. Went to Settings, Connections
3. Select Network Unlock
4. Select Permanent Unlock
5. Done
6. Update to Android 11

While it is true that GCam provides lots of improvements, sideloading an app and tinkering with the settings to get optimal results can be overwhelming to most people. So you're not wrong, but this isn't a solution for most people

Useful info, but it should be made clear that these are not the same phones. The 8T is absolutely an upgrade to the 8. How significant depends on how much you value the added specs + features. For example, the 65W Warp charge takes the sting out of not getting wireless charging (which neither phone has). I no longer need to remember to charge at bedtime, since I can get a full charge so quickly.

I have the 8T and I'm happy with it. I thought about Pixel 6 for $550 next week, but I'll pass because I like the 120hrz refresh and 12GB RAM of the 8T. The OnePlus 8 for $250 isn't comparable since it has 8GB RAM and 90hrz refresh (same as Pixel 6).

It's also a matter of curved (8) versus flat (8t).
Single sim T-Mobile 8 versus the dual sim 8t.
$350 would be a good price for the 8t.

8T is flat, 8 is curved.
Surprised the guy who posted didn't even mention the sale doesn't start until Wednesday the 17th.

We have 2 oneplus 8t phones we bought back in february on Cricket in TN that are working just fine. They are hands down the best phones I've owned and are way better than the samsung s9 I upgraded from. I'm only using 4g though.

I currently have a P20 Pro using at@t prepaid plan. They are phasing out support for my phone so need a replacement.

I absolutely love my current camera. Is the 8t camera at least equivalent to the P20 pro? The portrait mode on this is phenomenal.
