Still have to reiterate the importance of a good grinder to allow this machine to work to its full potential. If someone is entry-level and trying to pull good shots out of this, they shouldn't think they can do it with any old $50 grinder off the Kohl's shelf.
There are also significant downsides. I think these like Calphalon machines are made by sunbeam. Schematics and replacement parts are not available. No idea if the pressure is properly regulated or adjustable. The casing is plastic apart from the more expensive stainless model.
Edit: The Calphalon iQ and Amazon Commercial espresso machines have the same 3-eared 58mm portafilter design. These machines probably share components and perform similarly. Still haven't seen a technical review, schematic, or teardown of any of them.

To all: I own a couple KitchenAid appliances myself but man, this espresso machine is way overpriced. Unless you just want it to look beautiful on your countertop, one can get the same specs for a lot less. At $280, it's halfway to that Gaggia machine that was posted a couple days ago.
By the way, you'll still need a good grinder with this machine. If you settle for anything subpar, you may never pull good shots. In my opinion, a good espresso grinder in itself will cost more than $280.

The fact that it comes with pressurized and un-pressurized baskets is a nice bonus too. Breville stopped doing that with their cheaper machines. The metal frothing pitcher looks nice too.

The 2 star reviewer has me scared of buying this. Says it's built wonderfully, but the actual pressure and water temp are poorly set and it makes bitter espresso every time.
I MIGHT get it with the intention of returning it if it preforms bad like I think it will. I have 80% confidence in the 2 star reviewer.

That's the one I'm trying to hold out for. But yesterday I came across the Mr coffee espresso maker. Now I can't decide.
