I don't like how this deal is set up. In order to cancel the service you have to do so through your Bestbuy account. Someone on BB stated that a BB associate told them that will refer you to Tidal if there's an issue managing your Tidal account. Tidal on the other hand has a FAQ page that states that BB is responsible for handling billing issues.

This deal is not worth the bother. MQA is a gimmick. It's not truly lossless high resolution. Qobuz is better if you care about audio quality and functionality. Qobuz has a website with deep filtering for metadata and they also have booklets. If you're okay with standard lossless or lossy compression than Apple, Amazon, and Spotify are the way to go.

Tidal won't survive through the next economic slump. Offering ridiculous low price deals like this is a sign of weakness.

Once you try Tidal you'll never go back to using any other streaming service. The master release quality is amazing.. Worth every penny.

I've had such a positive experience with it. I use it every day and it's blown me away. You will hear sounds in songs that you've never heard before on your favorite albums.

lol this sounds like a fake paid review, but I really do like it. I have every other service as well and this is definitely #1 in quality if you're an audiophile.

Just use a credit card. A lot of CC companies advertise this perk now, where you can cancel and be refunded for any unwanted automatic recurring subscriptions.

you: i paid for the deal, did not cancel it, and they charged me.

me: cool story, in 4 one
I think you're missing the point that I literally couldn't even redeem it?

And also missing the dozens and dozens of replies in this thread on how much of a nightmare the process is? Tidal told me to talk to BB and BB told me to talk to Tidal. Pointing fingers with no one taking responsibility.

That's not cool, then. I see your point.

in life you learn small lessons, in your case you learned the wrong lessons. for example if you take a look at this deal, you are in total minority . . . so you have to ask yourself WHY? why is the majority thumbing this deal up, yet my experience in contradictory.

here are lessons i have learned that may help you in life and in the future:
  1. NEVER pay with a credit/debit card for any subscription (i learned that one from the AOL days). paying with a GC or prepaid card, or bank protection card is the way to go. but if you absolutely have to pay with post pay credit, go with a one that will back you up, like American Express.
  2. Take what you purchased back to who sold it to you and record the return if they refuse the refund. In this case Tidal is correct. You contact was with BB, they should have have provided the solution to you unless your return was outside the warranty duration.
  3. Read SD, folks on SD may be sensitive to some things/topics, but the collective wisdom and experience is in most cases on the money.

Yeah, but it's nice to avoid the problem to begin with.

Cancellation was easy. Just a few clicks. Those having issues maybe tried cancelling too soon or tried cancelling before activation? Maybe. Just not sure if they'll end up giving me 3 months or 1 month of service. Mixed messages. Meh, for $1 can't complain.

Moved on to Apple Music after years of tidal now they have lossless or atmos
Not sure why you're getting downvoted. I did the same, went from Tidal > Qobuz and now Apple Music. Admittedly don't love their UI and wish they had a standalone desktop app (iTunes blows), but their catalog is great and the quality is better than Tidal's without all the marketing nonsense they've been trying to pull. Befriend a student for the Apple discount and it's only like $6/mo.

i purchased tidal using bestbuy app and pay using cash app virtual card. i only put $2.00 on the card so it can't charge when it auto renews at the end of 3-month period.

I'll echo other comments. You HAVE to cancel through Best Buy. I did a similar offer a few months ago and cancelled via the tidal website. The next month I noticed they were charging me like $20. I called up Best Buy and they said I had to cancel through them. I tried for a refund and the rep would not budge.

Similar to Netflix. I canceled Netflix but I didn't know if you are logged in to the app and you click the icon, it will reactivate it ! Lessons learned

Tidal sucks big time! It's like we got suckered into a scam. They make it so hard to cancel.
