This is what I use for backup of my 30TB effective raid5. I have 2 of these in a synology nas on a iot power switch. Powers on once a week, gets new data, powers off.

One copy of anything is not backed up. Including in the cloud.

You're simultaneously lamenting the loss of data while saying things just aren't worth saving. Then asking what we could possibly have that's worth saving.

The size is pretty irrelevant. It could be 1 tb of data, and you could not feel it's worth investing to keep it alive. That doesn't change just bc this is a big drive.

Speaking of things people hate, you're being "that guy", here. There's at least one in every hard drive thread. The guy who doesn't understand that normal and intelligent people backup the data that they care about and that people have a whole range of uses for large hard drives, in a time where there's tons of data to be stored.

Either you're mistaken or you've typed the wrong model number, here. That's an 8TB hard drive. In addition, these 5400 RPM drives run as cool as a cucumber. They are housed in a case that allows for rather good ventilation.
