I have this set and while its fine for a general tool set, its not exactly small and not easy to get to the tools. You have to pull out the top trays to get to the lower tools. Bit of a P.I.T.A. when you're just trying to grab one socket.
55 bits and 28 allen wrenches. Only 143 normal tools. For almost $1/piece is not slick
i got this set last year...the build quality is not as good as what i expected. with over $100. there are other better options.

.
Maybe not this particular set, but I like the trays for a roller cabinet or cart and use the box for something else. If you have ever used the suitcase type, over time the sockets get loose and when opening, they tend to go everywhere. DeWalt and others tried to correct that by making the sockets difficult to get out. Some, like Craftsman, used to come with a snap in flat piece for the top that if you opened correctly, worked pretty good to keep everything in place... but I have not seen those for awhile. For mobility, this style is probably best.

Ordered. Toss a few "general use" tools (pliers, tape measure, knife, hammer) in the top tray and it's an entirely self-contained kit that can stay in the vehicle.

It's definitely not something I'd want to use in a garage instead of a traditional toolbox, but in a situation where you need to move tools around (e.g. working in various parts of a large building, or living in an apartment needing a conveniently mobile tool setup), a set like this combined with the roll-around tough box would be rather elegant.

It's Toughsystem 1.0. Keep that in mind.

I'll preface this by saying I don't own this set so this is strictly from checking the specs and owning a different DeWalt set. This set is actually almost complete. So close it makes me scratch my head why they would leave out just a couple 3/8" sockets. Other than that minor inconvience- I would say this looks like a much better "starter" set than most. The DeWalt 192 piece set is the ONLY complete socket set in that price range- when it's on sale, and quite a bit more when not.

I agree, I posted this on the 192 piece thread:

The sockets that the 192 has that the 226 does not have is:
  • 1/4 drive shallow 9/16
  • 3/8 drive deep 10, 11, 12
  • 3/4 and 11/16 spark plug sockets
  • 17 hex / torx sockets
You get 6 more extensions with the 192, a 1/4 universal, and 3 size adapters.

Probably because Craftsman and Dewalt are owned by the same company - Stanley Black & Decker.

Excluding the rather nice toughsystem case it's closer to $.70

Case is relatively water tight, like someone said toss in a truck/car and you could probably fix anything short of replacing control arms.

Other socket cases, left in an open environment will get water in them, especially when stored upright and even when laid flat

I just mean the box is freaking massive. Its definitely a great set, but I feel like the Kobalt set with the slide out drawers is like 65% of the size with basically the same tools. I like my set, just wish the box was smaller and tools easier to access. Thankfully I have a variety of different sets. This one is just sitting in the garage in case I need to grab something to go.
