Honestly different league, this is entry level full frame while a7iii isn't m
The A7iii is definitely entry level full frame. It was also released two years earlier than the Z5, so the Z5 has some newere features. Z5 has better viewfinder, LCD, and ergonomics. A7iii has higher fps and much more lenses to choose from.
For low light, Z5 is probably better due to better image stabilization.

I've owned the both and the a7iii has much better lowlight quality images and much better low light autofocus. That being said, the z5 for $1000 is a very good deal and if I were still with nikon I'd get it. The z5 has better images in general than the a7iii in decent to good light imo
Debating if I should buy now or wait for better deal. My Nikon D7100 has been acting up recently (shutter won't release every other click) so have been in market for a new one
Same price I purchased my Z5 a few months ago. If this is a good price point for you, and you need to replace an older Nikon body - I'd jump on it. For me, I was replacing a perfectly good D750, which the better half complained about size and weight (she has much smaller hands than me). The Z5 is such a game changer for me - love the form factor; and the ergonomics are super similar to the shuttered cameras (which means outstanding).

What lens do you use most on z5? Just wondering if I shud get 24-50 or 24-70 f4 lens for 300 more
I use the 24-70mm f/4 primarily, and heartily recommend it. Great performing, lightweight - it's on my Z5 probably 90% of the time. Granted, the other lenses are specialized (70-300mm, 90mm macro, and a wide angle).

Thanks, I got Z5 with 24-70mm, Mostly positive reviews.

In terms of image quality, no difference (I have used both). Nikon Z lenses are phenomenal. Sony has great options from sigma and Tamron too. Nikon Z5 is for audience who are interested mostly in still images and sometime shoot video. Handling/grip is superior in Nikon.
Even a7iii was introduced as entry level full frame camera , but was big hit because its great hybrid camera with excellent specs for video as well. This is reason u will pay lot more for a7iii.
A7iii and a7iv are more comparable to z6 and z6ii, not z5.
If u don't shoot videos much and don't do fast action photography, Z5 has amazing value

The Z5 is much better in low light. Also better colors.
